Our group, the Demand Side Management (DSM) organization, is focused on building products that educate our customers about their energy, water, or other utility usage via our machine-learning driven insights and nudge customers to become more efficient and flexible with their usage. These products have saved over 31 Terawatt-Hours of electricity and avoided 15.2 million metric tons of carbon in our atmosphere Our products need to continue to scale to serve even more customers and provide increased flexibility with the communications we send. These represent big challenges that will require critical thinking and innovative engineering. We are very mission driven and are looking for a quality engineer who shares this mission to join our teamThis is an automation-focused quality engineer role which will be part of our North American team in the Utilities Global Business Unit in our MDC office. You’ll be part of a small team, which will give you the opportunity not only own product quality and work hands-on with our automation test suite, but to work with product management and engineering leadership and have input into product acceptance criteria and test design.- Responsibilities_- Own the quality automation test suite for our digital communication products and widget-based web products. Design and implement regression test suites using HTML and JavaScript-oriented testing frameworks.- Participate in the agile software development lifecycle process as the quality representative. Help craft ticket acceptance criteria, ensure quality bar is met prior to production sign-off and release.- Use test-driven development to ensure all code is thoroughly tested using Enzyme, Karma, Storybooks, Loki, Ava, Selenium, and Junit- Triage, troubleshoot, and support fixing and releasing defects anywhere in the web module stack, from React web components to Java Dropwizard services**Experience**Here is the recommended experience to really succeed in this role:- Love to Have_- 3+ years of professional experience in a quality role with hands-on experience writing test scripts utilizing industry-standard quality automation tooling- Strong Opinions about good testing, including a good understanding of the concepts of TDD, unit testing, visual regression testing, and UI testing- Experience working with large, complex code repositories- Strong written and verbal English communication skills and someone who isn’t afraid to ask questions- MS or BS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.- Like to Have_- Experience with test automation frameworks we use, such as Selenium, Junit, Cucumber, Karma, Loki, or equivalent- Familiar with Docker, MySQL, Oracle SQL, Webpack, Jenkins- Familiar with Agile development methodologiesOTALAD-LOB-OU**Detailed Description and Job Requirements**As a member of the software engineering division, you will perform high-level design based on provided external specifications. Specify, design and implement minor changes to existing software architecture. Build highly complex enhancements and resolve complex bugs. Build and execute unit tests and unit plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering as necessary to discuss minor changes to product functionality and to ensure quality and consistency across specific products.Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years
