We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of **Development Engineering****Role Purpose**:The Development Engineering job is responsible for developing the most appropriate and secure Technology solutions using iterative software development/programming in line with the solution design, to meet customer needs, ensuring continuous improvement.**Main Activities**:The Development Engineering job is responsible for developing the most appropriate and secure Technology solutions using iterative software development/programming in line with the solution design, to meet customer needs, ensuring continuous improvement.This role will carry out some or all the following activities:- Design and engineer software with the customer/user experience as a key objective.- Intermediate level knowledge in mainframe, specifically in Vision plus and management of credit Cards.- Work within a feature team to engineer software, scripts and tools to enable the delivery of bank’s products and services.- Design and develop software with a focus on automation of build, testing and deployment process on all environments to minimize variation and ensure predictable high-quality code and data.- Work with global teams and manage the project between local and global teams. (schedule flexibility).- Ensuring compliance with all relevant controls and standards including relevant Service Management Standard. Ensure high data quality exists in Service Management systems of record.- Ensure service resilience, service sustainability and recovery time objectives are met for all the software solutions delivered.- Responsible for automating the continuous integration / continuous delivery pipeline within a DevOps Product/Service team driving a culture of continuous improvement.- Keep up to date and have expertise on current tools, technologies and areas like cyber security and regulations pertaining to aspects like data privacy, consent, data residency etc. that are applicable.- Current tools like Jira, Confluence, GPDM, clarity, Microsoft apps among othersRequirementsThe following skills are required at least in intermediate level:- Lead end-to-end delivery of high-impact technical projects in a fast-paced financial environment.- 3 years of experience using Mainframe and 2 years with Vision Plus- Act as the primary interface between software development teams and business stakeholders, translating business requirements into clear technical specifications.- Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, and risks to ensure successful delivery.- Provide hands-on technical leadership, guiding engineering teams on architecture, best practices, and quality standards.- Drive Agile and/or hybrid project management methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or Waterfall when needed).- Collaborate with compliance, risk, and data security teams to ensure all deliverables meet financial regulatory standards.- Monitor KPIs, produce executive-level status reports, and communicate progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.- Foster cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment between business needs and technology capabilities.- Intermediate - Advance English**Competences**- Strategic and analytical thinking- Technical depth and credibility with the basis to be able to develop if required.- Business-oriented decision making- Effective negotiation and conflict resolution- Strong leadership and team empowerment- Proactive risk and issue managementAt HSBC we offer our colleagues a greater number of leave days so that they can fully enjoy their wedding, take care of the new member of the family, or grieve the loss of a family member.
