Full Stack Engineer (Frontend-Interactive Focus) We are seeking a Full Stack Engineer (Frontend-Interactive Focus) to join as the second engineering hire. This person will partner closely with our senior founding engineer (backend-focused) and work directly alongside the founder (ex-gaming industry, with two successful exits in the content creation space). You will focus on building rich, interactive, game-like experiences for live-stream viewers and streamers while being mentored and inspired by leaders who have deep experience in gaming, community, and startups. You should thrive in a scrappy startup environment, be excited to push the boundaries of web interactivity (animations, overlays, Three.js, and other creative technologies), and be comfortable owning features end-to-end. This is a unique opportunity to grow alongside an experienced founding engineer and a seasoned founder while taking lead on the visual, interactive layer of the product. This is not a back-office SaaS role — you’ll be building real-time, high-energy experiences that shape culture in live Twitch and Discord communities. Core Responsibilities Interactive Frontend Development: Build overlays, widgets, and web apps that feel game-like, leveraging tools like Three.js, Pixi.js, GSAP, and animation frameworks. Full Stack Execution: Deliver features end-to-end across frontend (React/TypeScript) and backend (Node.js), collaborating with the founding engineer for integration with Elixir/Phoenix services. Real-Time Systems: Work with sockets, pub/sub, and real-time APIs (Twitch, Discord, OBS) to enable responsive and social gameplay experiences. Collaboration & Growth: Learn from and pair with the senior backend-focused founding engineer, while working closely with the founder to help shape product direction. Player Experience Mindset: Design for short-session play, smooth UX, and lightweight onboarding in a high-noise chat environment. Startup Mentality: Move fast, embrace ambiguity, and prioritize shipping/iteration over perfection. Day in the Life Morning: Sync with the founder and senior engineer on active features, review prior stream feedback, and prioritize the next interactive overlay or feature. Midday: Prototype and implement a new interactive element (e.g., animated house banners, point rituals, game-like overlays). Test locally and push to staging. Afternoon: Watch features run live in a stream, monitor performance, and collect user/streamer feedback. End of Day: Adjust animations, refine performance, and document improvements for iteration. Weekly cadence: Ship interactive features weekly. Each sprint ends with something live-tested by real players, not just code in the repo. What We’re Looking For Frontend-Interactive Expertise: Strong experience building with React, TypeScript, and at least one advanced graphics/animation framework (Three.js, Pixi.js, GSAP, etc.). Full Stack Comfort: Proficient in backend development (Node.js, TypeScript). Experience with Elixir/Phoenix is a bonus, but not required. Real-Time Experience: Familiarity with WebSockets, pub/sub architectures, or similar real-time systems. Design Sensibility: A “feel for fun” — you care how interactions look and feel, not just that they function. Collaboration & Growth: 3-5 years of professional experience, comfortable learning from a senior engineer and contributing independently. Cultural Fit: Passion for Twitch, Discord, and gaming culture. You should “get” live-stream chat environments and be excited to build for them. Fluency in English: For seamless communication with our distributed team. Not a Fit If You only want to work on backend systems with no interest in interactive UIs. You are uncomfortable with ambiguous startup environments where you’ll wear multiple hats. You shy away from learning new creative frameworks or working directly on visible, player-facing features. Background & Experience 3-5 years of professional experience in full stack or frontend engineering. Portfolio of interactive web projects (bonus if related to streaming, gaming, or creative coding). Experience integrating APIs and real-time data into frontend experiences. Bonus: Experience with Twitch APIs, Discord bots, or OBS overlay work.
