Accounting & Tax Specialist – Mexico (Mexico City Office) Location: Mexico City, Mexico Apply via email: Company Page: Vanzbon Group (LinkedIn) Position Summary Vanzbon Group is looking for an Accounting & Tax Specialist – Mexico to support our growing client portfolio and ongoing interactions with the Mexican tax authority ( SAT ). The role focuses on day-to-day accounting and tax compliance, as well as handling tax-related cases, notices, and clarifications with the authorities. This position is ideal for professionals with solid experience in Mexican tax and accounting who are comfortable working with SAT systems and communicating with internal teams in both Spanish and English. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and general ledger accounting for Mexican entities in accordance with local accounting and tax rules. Prepare and file periodic tax returns, including ISR, IVA, withholding taxes , and other applicable obligations. Review and manage CFDI invoices and related documentation to ensure accuracy and proper tax treatment. Handle SAT-related cases such as notices, queries, desk reviews, and information requests , preparing supporting documentation and responses. Monitor SAT mailboxes/portals for new communications and ensure timely follow-up. Coordinate with clients and internal teams to collect information required for tax filings and SAT responses. Support basic tax reconciliations between accounting records and SAT information. Assist in identifying potential tax risks or discrepancies and help propose practical solutions. Prepare clear internal summaries and status updates (in English) for regional and HQ teams. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation , or a related field. Typically 3–5 years of relevant experience in Mexican accounting and tax, ideally within an accounting firm, tax advisory firm, or corporate finance department. Strong knowledge of Mexican tax regulations and practical experience with ISR, IVA, and withholding tax compliance. Hands-on experience working with SAT platforms and electronic communications (e.g. Buzón Tributario, CFDI validation). Proficiency in Mexican accounting/tax software such as Contpaqi, Aspel , or similar systems is highly valued. High level of proficiency in Spanish and working proficiency in English (for calls and written updates). Strong analytical, documentation, and follow-up skills. Legally eligible to work in Mexico. Skills & Competencies Detail-oriented and accurate in handling tax and accounting data. Comfortable dealing directly with SAT communications and clarifying issues with authorities when needed. Able to manage multiple cases and deadlines in parallel. Clear written communication (Spanish & English) and solid documentation habits. Professional, responsible, and service-minded when dealing with clients and internal stakeholders.
