Senior Backend Python Developer – Remote We’re building a smart telematics platform in the $20 trillion construction market. Clue uses data and AI to provide actionable insights that construction companies use to integrate, automate, and optimize their operations. Our software is used by dozens of the largest construction firms in the US. We’re growing rapidly and backed by one of the world’s largest construction organizations. Your Mission Design, develop, and maintain Clue’s backend systems using Python, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability. Work with SQL databases (MySQL) and AWS services to process and analyze large‑scale construction telematics data. Develop, test, and deploy APIs that power our mobile and web applications, integrating with various telematics, GPS, and enterprise software platforms. Optimize and scale our backend architecture, ensuring seamless data flow between multiple integrations. Collaborate with frontend developers, data engineers, and product teams to enhance Clue’s platform. Implement best practices in backend development, including writing clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code. Who You Are 5+ years of experience in backend development with Python. Proficient in SQL, working with relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL. Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud services (AWS preferred). Worked with data‑intensive applications, handling large datasets efficiently. Strong understanding of software architecture and best practices for backend development. Experience working in fast‑moving startups and thrive in an agile, high‑paced environment. Bonus: Experience with construction telematics, GPS, ERP, or maintenance systems such as Caterpillar VisionLink, HCSS, B2W, Viewpoint Vista, or Oracle JDE. Construction Market Overview The numbers are staggering. Construction is one of the world’s largest industries, accounting for 10% of the global GDP. It’s also one of the most inefficient, with productivity barely increasing since 1945. That’s changing. Venture capital investment in construction startups quadrupled in the past year alone, surpassing $2 billion. To sum it up: Construction is one of the biggest and least efficient industries ripe for disruption. The time to innovate and build in this market is now.
