Learn more at Job Function: Supply Chain Engineering Job Sub Function: Automation Engineering Job Category: Scientific/Technology All Job Posting Locations: Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico Vacante: Staff Automation Engineer – Ciudad Juárez, México Job Summary The Automation Engineer is an individual contributor responsible for the development and introduction of automated new and upgraded equipment in accordance with the product manufacturing needs. Requirements for the automated equipment incorporate needs for new product development, design changes or process improvements related to capacity increase, quality and process productivity improvement metrics. Leads the planning, design, scheduling and control of Automation projects to support new product development. Contributes to key performance indicator achievements and supports company initiatives. Establishes procedures to ensure that automated equipment operates safely, dependably, and with precision; identifies and recommends modifications. Duties & Responsibilities Provides technical expertise and assistance to assigned engineers, drafters, and technicians as and for design concepts, proof of project intent, project feasibility and project stability. Establish automation deliverables timelines and ensure adherence to expected deadlines. Manages individual and multiple complex projects simultaneously. Conducts the most complex assessments to determine regulatory compliance and any necessary improvements for regulation conformity. Creates documentation on all equipment and system modifications and upgrades through approved change control methods. Has high proficiency in validation strategy and execution, delivering consistent results in equipment implementation. Coaches project management team in identification of scope changes, including provision of necessary information to support claims for time and cost impact. Leads capital management initiatives: Cost estimating, timing, cost-benefit, and technical fitment evaluations. Communicates business-related issues or opportunities to the next management level. Supports evaluation of business plan for projects portfolio prioritization. Ensures team follows all company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices. When supervising, ensures that subordinates follow company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition. Experience and Education University / bachelor’s degree or equivalent, Engineering, any specialty. Experience in the Medical Device industry or medical field, preferably. Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices, and procedures. Knowledge of specific business practices and software and software applications. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse clientele base. Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers and the public. Ability to perform duties in accordance with policies and procedures and comply with civil rights requirements. Additional Education Requirements B.S Engineering Degree or Science Discipline. Staff Automation Engineer experience. Advanced degree, such as an MS or an MBA is preferred. Project Management and strong cross-functional business experience. 6 to 8 years’ experience in the implementation and support of highly automated manufacturing systems. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Certifications, Licenses and Affiliations Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Applications, e.g., Excel and Power Point. Excellent project management skills. Self-direction and proactivity, effective management of personal time. Talent management and development preferred. Ability to demonstrate leadership skills when collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to manage projects and supervise support staff, as assigned. Demonstrated hands‑on large project management/delivery experience. Proven experience at managing a high volume of projects at a single time. Proven experience in managing subcontractors. Knowledge of good manufacturing practices and documentation, preferably in the medical industry. Knowledge of technical skills in programming (Python, Java, C#), scripting (Git), automation frameworks (Selenium), testing tools, CI/CD pipelines and data base (SQL) along with a foundational understanding of mechanical and electrical systems or computer science (Preferred). Essential soft skills include problem‑solving and analytical thinking. Oral and written communication in Spanish. Knowledge of productive processes. Advanced English.
