Manager of Engineering – Design System
Are you passionate about platform engineering and excited by the opportunity to lead a team focused on building and scaling a global design system? Join our dynamic team of designers, architects, engineers, and specialists dedicated to creating the core components that power our company’s products.
As the Manager of Engineering on the Design System team, you will play a key leadership role in driving the technical vision, development, and growth of our design system. Your work will ensure the seamless integration of design and engineering, fostering collaboration across teams to deliver a world-class platform used across our entire organization.
About the Role:
As a Manager of Engineering, you will:

  • Lead and mentor the engineering team: Guide a team of engineers focused on building and maintaining scalable, accessible, and reusable design system components. Foster an environment of collaboration, professional development, and timely delivery of high-quality features.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with designers, content strategists, accessibility specialists, and UX researchers to translate design language into functional, reusable code libraries. Ensure components are well-documented and effectively communicated with product engineering teams across the organization.
  • Drive technical excellence: Advocate for engineering best practices, promote a culture of code quality, and ensure the design system is easily adoptable by product teams. Lead the team in developing features that meet the needs of both product engineering teams and end-users.
  • Innovate and evolve: Stay updated on the latest frontend technologies and user experience trends. Lead the integration of cutting-edge practices and drive innovation within the design system by turning feedback into easy-to-use solutions.
  • Preferred Tech Stack: React, Redux, Angular, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS/SASS, Web Components, Webpack, FAST Web Components, Lit, Chromium, REST, GraphQL, and gRPC.

About You:
You’re a great fit for this role if you:
  • Have leadership experience: You’ve successfully managed engineering teams and have a track record of delivering projects on time while maintaining high standards of code quality.
  • Bring deep frontend expertise: You have at least 6 years of experience in frontend development, with a focus on design systems within enterprise applications. You’ve worked with frameworks like React or Angular, and have experience building or customizing design systems such as Google Material, Microsoft Fluent, or Bootstrap.
  • Know design systems inside and out: You’re skilled in component design and understand principles such as atoms, molecules, and organisms. You have experience building or integrating reusable UI components that scale across large applications.
  • Advocate for accessibility: You understand and implement accessibility standards and build components that are usable for everyone.
  • Collaborate effectively: You work well with cross-functional teams, partnering with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-impact features.
  • Have excellent communication skills: You’re able to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and are a strong advocate for the engineering perspective in cross-functional settings.
  • Are solution-oriented: You bring excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to find solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Preferably hold a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
