**Company Overview****Job Overview**The Aquaculture Certification program at SCS Global Services provides high-quality, third-party auditing and consulting services worldwide. The breadth of the program's operations ranges from small, family-owned shrimp concessions to large, vertically integrated salmon-producing corporations, as well as the feed meals that supply the farms.Under the direction of the Technical Manager and assisted by program coordinators, the Technical Specialist I, Aquaculture will conduct a mix of on-site and remote audits of feed mills and seafood processing plants. If experience is met, farm auditing may be included. Additional responsibilities include programmatic and technical support to auditors, clients, international affiliates, and colleagues. This position travels up to 50% yearly, including international travel within the region.**Relevant Standards/Schemes**- Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Farm- Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Feed- Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP)**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**Project Management- Plan and conduct on-site audits of aquaculture operations against the applicable standards- Serve as project manager for assigned projects, ensuring smooth progression from audit completion through certification decision- Engage with stakeholders to explain the audit process; record and address any comments receivedAuditing and Technical Oversight- Draft and submit a detailed report of audit results utilizing relevant report template- Make certification decisions on audit projects- Perform technical review of reports submitted by other staff or contract auditors- Review and determine suitability of client’s response to non-conformities in a timely manner- Maintain professional and technical competencies by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societiesProgram Quality and Development- Support accreditation through participation in internal and external non-conformities closure, including conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions- Participate in the internal and external audit processes and ensure ongoing compliance with relevant standards and policies, as needed- Collaborate with standards owners to update and further develop standards and associated processes and materials, as needed- Represent SCS at trade shows, conferences/symposiums, technical workshops, etc. in a professional manner**Minimum Qualifications**- Bachelor's Degree in Aquaculture, Food Science, Environmental Science, or a related field **and**:- 2+ years of professional experience in seafood processing and/or feed operations- Fluency in English and Spanish with work experience that includes professional verbal and written communication- Excellent time and project management skills- Strong organization, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills- Strong attention to detail, customer service, and teamwork orientation- Proficient with business software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and database management- Initiative, good judgment, and ability to work independently under pressure in a changing environment- Ability to legally work in the US and travel domestically and internationally up to 50% as needed**Preferred Qualifications**- Recent experience in third-party auditing of seafood processing, feed, or similar standards- Demonstrable knowledge of relevant standards and auditing procedures- Documentation of successful training to BAP’s SPS Standard or the ASC Feed Standard- Evidence of lead auditor training course based on ISO 19011 principlesThe above description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
