Data Scientist

A Data Scientist is responsible for analyzing large sets of structured and unstructured data to derive actionable insights. This role involves using advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical methods to solve complex business problems and support decision-making processes. Responsibilities Data Analysis and Modeling: Design and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms to analyze data and predict outcomes. Data Collection and Processing: Gather data from various sources, clean and preprocess it for analysis. Visualization and Reporting: Create dashboards and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders and support executive decision-making. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, marketing, and customer service, to understand business needs and deliver data-driven solutions. Research and Development: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in data science and apply them to improve processes and products. Required Skills and Qualifications Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL. Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI. Statistical Analysis: Proficient in statistical methods and tools for data analysis. Machine Learning: Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, scikit-learn, or PyTorch. Data Management: Ability to handle large volumes of data and experience with data warehousing solutions. Business Insight: Strong understanding of business processes and the ability to translate data insights into actionable business strategies. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders. Insulet Corporation, maker of the OmniPod, is the leader in tubeless insulin pump. The Senior Data Scientist role is responsible for research and development of Insulet’s brand new and strategic insulin therapy optimization solution for patients and healthcare providers. You will be developing analytics to gain insights of device settings, usage patterns, failure modes, and clinical outcomes. Using machine learning and pattern recognition techniques, you will develop algorithms to recommend optimal pump parameters to achieve the best clinical outcome. Responsibilities Work with IT and cross functional teams to identify data sources, design data ingestion and data storage platforms. Develop data clean up and preprocessing scripts as needed. Explore data patterns using existing data science tools and self-created programs. Develop and implement algorithms for insulin pump therapy optimization. Present findings to leadership and non-specialists in relation to business objectives. Mentor junior engineers. Performs other duties as required. Education and Experience Masters or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred. At least 5 years of work and research experience on machine learning, artificial intelligence, or statistical inferences. Preferred Experience in medical device or healthcare industries is desirable. Preferred Skills and Competencies Demonstrated proficiency in one or more analytic software tools, such as Python, R, Matlab, etc. Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and one or more relational databases, such as Oracle, Teradata, Microsoft SQL Server, etc. Experience in C/C++, C#, Java programming is a plus. Experience in Business Intelligence tools, such as Tableau, Spotfire, Cognos, is a plus. Demonstrated knowledge of software engineering principles and practices. Ability to work independently without detailed guidance, yet maintaining effective communications with leaders and stakeholders.
