And so much more.Come break through with us.Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.**Role Purpose**:Designs and analyses first generation / next generation products, processes and/or equipment in support of a new product / technology introduction. Maintains knowledge of the latest developments in their area of expertise in order to identify and document any intellectual property developed as part of a project**Key Responsibilities**:- Provides leadership in problem solving, and technical expertise, to ensure timely resolution of short-term process and equipment issues, and higher level troubleshooting- Provides direction to other technicians / engineers, coaches junior engineers, and provides guidance to maintenance personnel- Provides general engineering and manufacturing skills and knowledge (understands theories and fundamentals), and capable of leading projects to get to root cause of issues, and put permanent solutions in place- Provides disciplined project leadership across multiple stages of innovation for new product, process, cost reduction and capacity improvement initiatives- Recommends and implements permanent solutions to long term performance issues, and improves existing and new technologies and processes- Develops and leads some areas of the manufacturing and/or technical roadmap. Documents material, process and/or equipment to protect and contribute to Intellectual Property improvements- Proficient in use of statistical data analysis and DOE in process problem solving and process/product improvement- Identifies, justifies, and implements cost reduction, capacity enhancement, capital equipment and other improvement initiatives- Introduces new products and technologies- Meets all Environmental, Safety and Health requirements- Develops SME knowledge of material, process and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering- Tracks the effectiveness of projects and implemented cost reductions, using up-time, cost, productivity, and other appropriate measures- Is a leader and Subject Matter Expert (SME) in process control/discipline, SPC, SQC, OEE, Designed Experiments, and other Performance Excellence processes (Green and Black-belt skills)- Designs and/or specifies new equipment or modifies existing equipment to continuously improve process performance.
