Responsibilities Manage daily operations Help with onboarding and training Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent experience Strong leadership skills We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Customer Service Modernization and Upgrades (CSMU) team. In this role, you will oversee a team of engineers dedicated to designing and delivering automated material handling solutions for existing client systems. Your primary focus will be on the modernization and upgrading of these running automated systems. The key responsibilities include leading and managing a team of engineers to ensure the successful design and delivery of automation solutions, overseeing the modernization and upgrading of clients’ existing automated systems, and expanding the team\'s commissioning expertise by adopting a life-cycle engineering perspective, which includes design, drawings, order entry, configuration, visualization, and testing. Additionally, you will lead by example, embodying KION\'s shared Group Values and Leadership Principles, and collaborate with remote team members to monitor progress, ensure success, and identify and address performance gaps at both personal and project levels. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide team members, have a strong understanding of automation and material handling systems, and possess proven experience in managing complex projects and delivering results. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly with remote teams, are essential, along with a commitment to upholding and promoting KION\'s values and principles. What you Will Do in This Role: Maintain a schedule for individual contributors for the direct team, while coordinating with a large team to ensure the level-loading of team members. Managing scope, budget, and schedules per project requirements, contracts, and SOW requests. Build cross-functional partnerships with regional and international managers to maintain consistency and standards. Project support and initiative to push and support high-priority demands; including technical support and training as needed. Understand the scope of technical responsibility to support team growth and focus. Management of team tools, including but not limited to, laptops, PPE, etc. Manage project execution risk through validation of project inputs (as-sold project documentation and the project schedule), effective project staffing strategies, and comprehensive adherence to standard work and quality processes. Ownership and ensuring timely completion of short-term monthly forecasting across assigned projects, independent of resource reporting. Advocates and recommends changes in processes and/or procedures to improve processes, projects, and teams. Anticipates trends, and problems and enthusiastically searches for resolutions. What We Are Looking For: Bachelor\'s Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Controls). Minimum of 3-5 years of successful experience in a directly related field. Demonstrated leadership capabilities in current role. Previous experience leading teams is a plus. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills. Ability to solve problems. Demonstrated stand-up presentation skills, group facilitation, and effectively interacting with customers. Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively in a team-based organization and with employees of all levels and backgrounds across all functions. Excellent leadership, teamwork, influencing, mentoring, coaching, and interpersonal skills. Excellent analytical, organization, and time management skills. PC skills with demonstrated knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. Ability to work individually and under minimal supervision to include a mixture of remote and office environments leading a distributed workforce. Travel up to 30% to the customer site, other Dematic offices, or identified locations for meetings, training, and business needs. The responsibilities of the Senior Engineering Manager will encompass comprehensive project execution at existing customer sites, including promoting safety, achieving KPIs for quality, delivery, and cost, and managing project risks. You will also be accountable for financial oversight, managing team budgets, forecasting, and optimizing resource allocation. A core aspect of this role is people leadership: leading by example, mentoring managers, fostering talent development through coaching and training, and maintaining strong team communication. Additionally, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives with a goal of enhancing productivity and quality. What You Will Do In This Role: Project Execution Promote safety culture across organization with a focus on zero incidents and 100% compliance. Lead efforts to expand team project execution expertise towards a life-cycle engineering perspective; including, but not limited to audits, design, drawings, order entry, configuration, visualization, commissioning, and testing. Ensure accuracy and achievement of performance KPI\'s for quality, on-time delivery, and cost. Proactively clear roadblocks to KPI target attainment for project teams. Manage project execution risk through validation of effective project staffing strategies, technical reviews, and comprehensive adherence to standard work and quality processes. Participate in cross-functional technical reviews to ensure alignment of technical specifications and customer requirements. Participates in design and costing reviews with sales and solution development for a project quotation. Continually monitor, evaluate, and report on status of team. Work cross-functionally with other disciplines and build multi-functional partnerships with regional managers to maintain consistency and standards. Continually represent the organization as a key customer-facing external contact and partner. Works with manager direct reports to review project budgets and actual costs, identifying areas for improvement and developing mitigation plans where appropriate. Ownership of program financial budgets using actual and forecasted cost data. Provide regular reporting of project/program performance and status to management and peers. Take necessary actions to ensure staffing levels and talent support current and forecasted workload. Drive capacity planning through continual pipeline and team bandwidth assessments Lead team members by example and by living KION\'s shared Group Values and Leadership Principles. Mentor engineering managers through steady collaboration that involves one-on-one conversations, practical coaching and learning opportunities. Assess and assign appropriate disciplines and skillsets of resources to successfully deliver engineering content utilizing all available talent pools both internal and external. Support talent development through active and consistent engagement including 1-1 meetings, real-time learning/coaching opportunities, and training programs. Effectively identifying the right candidates, helping in their onboard, and integrating the new hires into the team. What We Are Looking For: Problem Solving Proficient Customer Facing Skills Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills Detail Oriented with Ability to Manage Multiple Projects or Programs Simultaneously Ability to Travel up to 20% of the time. Minimum 7 years of successful experience in related field and previous managerial experience with a proven track record of leading teams to deliver complex projects. Proven experience leading projects from contract approval through customer acceptance and turnover to warranty. Proven experience leading a team of four or more direct reports to successfully achieve team goals. Sr. Manufacturing Industrial Engineering Manager Position Summary The Sr. Manufacturing Industrial Engineering Manager is responsible for driving operational excellence across the manufacturing site by leading high-impact industrial engineering initiatives. This role oversees a team of engineers and partners closely with Operations leadership to optimize processes, improve productivity, reduce costs, and deploy advanced technologies. The ideal candidate brings strong strategic thinking, hands-on problem-solving capability, and a proven ability to lead transformation in a high-growth manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop, communicate, and execute the Industrial Engineering strategy aligned to site and global business objectives. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of industrial engineers across multiple shifts or sites. Champion a culture of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and operational excellence. Influence cross-functional leaders and drive alignment for engineering initiatives and improvement programs. Process Optimization Analyze workflows, material flow, and production lines to identify improvement opportunities and remove waste. Conduct time studies, line balancing, capacity analysis, and ergonomic assessments to ensure optimal performance. Define and implement standardized work, manufacturing best practices, and performance metrics. Lead Kaizen events and structured problem-solving sessions (A3, DMAIC, 5 Why, etc.). Technology & Innovation Evaluate, introduce, and deploy automation solutions, advanced manufacturing technologies, and Industry 4.0 tools. Utilize data analytics, dashboards, and simulation models to predict bottlenecks and optimize plant performance. Support digital transformation initiatives, ensuring successful adoption of new technologies. Cost, Productivity & Capital Projects Deliver measurable improvements in labor productivity, throughput, cycle time, and operational cost reduction. Lead layout redesigns, capacity planning, and process flow optimization for current and future state operations. Support capital investment projects including ROI analysis, layout creation, and equipment specification. Drive cost-saving initiatives through waste elimination, efficiency improvements, and automation. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with operations, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and engineering to ensure seamless execution of initiatives. Provide industrial engineering support for New Product Introduction (NPI), new equipment installation, and plant expansions. Act as a strategic partner to leadership, escalating risks and proposing solutions with strong data-driven rationale. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 8–10 years of experience in Industrial Engineering roles within a manufacturing environment (high-mix/complex operations preferred). Proven experience leading engineering teams, ideally across multiple sites or a large-scale operation. Strong expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt preferred), and continuous improvement methodologies. Demonstrated success driving large-scale productivity and cost-reduction initiatives. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and program management skills.
