As a Controls Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of new high-speed custom automation electrical control systems, machine software, and user interfaces. Your creativity will be key to producing easy-to-operate, safe, and on-time equipment, giving Molex a competitive edge in the marketplace.

At Molex, we are looking for a talented Controls Project Engineer to join our DSS Manufacturing Services team and drive our automation projects to new heights.
What You Will Do- Provide controls feasibility and equipment cost estimates to the automation development team.
- Collaborate with the mechanical engineering department to determine design completion dates and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Specify control hardware, generate bills of material, design control panels and enclosures, and create electrical and pneumatic schematics.
- Assist in the debugging, qualification, and installation of machines.
- Provide technical support for equipment launches, including traveling to mass production facilities for machine installation, qualification, and training of technicians and operators.
- Attend design reviews and PFMEAs, working with mechanical engineers to improve current and future automation designs.
- Track projects using internal methods, summarizing component cost, labor, and lead time, and develop accurate, up-to-date BOMs and spare parts lists.
- Adhere to internal product development procedures, TQM, and IS/QS-9000 requirements, embracing Six Sigma, ISO, and EH&S management systems.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
- Travel internationally up to 20% per year.
- Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Proven experience of control panel design and PLC programming experience.
- Proven experience of project management with the ability to set goals and priorities.
- Proficiency in TwinCAT (Beckhoff) and Sysmac (Omron).
- Experience generating industrial electrical schematics including safety guarding standards.
- Expertise in the design and documentation of machine controls.
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to express complex technical concepts clearly.
- Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results, and make corrections.
- Ability to work positively with many worldwide cultures.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic drawings.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with high-speed synchronous, asynchronous, and flexible (robotics) assembly systems.
- Proven experience of robot programming.
- HMI programming experience (Redlion, Pro-Face).
- Vision systems (Cognex or Keyence).
- Scheduling and budgeting.
- Design experience with high-speed gigabit connectors or cable assemblies and/or automotive assemblies.
- Some PC language programming skills (.Net or C++).
- Foreign language competency in English or Mandarin.
