And so much more.Come break through with us.Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.**Role Purpose**:- Ensures entity compliance with local regulations, GAAP accounting principles and Corning policies and procedures.- Responsible for managing the period closing process preparation including posting of entries and accuracy of the general ledger.- Assists with Procurement processing including purchase orders through vendor invoicing- Ensure that the required reporting is completed accurately and on a timely basis.- Assists in performing accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements- Reviews and administers fiscal operating policies and procedures- Interacts with business on a regular basis, begins to network within various areas/business units**Key Responsibilities**:- Performs the monthly closing activities and month end financial reporting activity and analysis of monthly financial performance- Processes ServiceNow tickets for purchase orders accurately and assists service line managers to ensure timely payment of vendor invoices- Provides variance analysis and highlights variances that need corrective action- Monitors spending and works with department managers to review/understand and manage expenses. Researches and provides detail on expense variances- Submission of 5-year forecasting and annual budgeting process in Longview/Khalix- Drives finance process improvements and efficiencies**Experiences/Education - Required**:- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Math, Business Administration, or equivalent technical degree- Experience working on cross-functional teams to solve complex business problems- 5 or more years of relevant experience- Knowledge of Financial systems (Asset Management/General Ledger/Project Costing)- Ability to analyze and interpret data regarding unexpected changes in financial results (operating expenses)- Excellent communication and presentation skills- Ability to be comfortable interacting and communicating with all aspects of the business, including staff and senior managers- Corporate Finance experience- Cost Accounting experience**Experiences/Education - Desired**:- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work proactively and independently in a fast-changing environment- Strong interpersonal & communication skills to build relationships with project and department managers, as well as within the finance team- Comfortable challenging existing processes**Desired Skills**:- Working experience with PeopleSoft, SAP, Longview/Khalix- Performance Excellence knowledge (Six Sigma, lean processes)Corning Puts YOU FirstWe are committed to supporting your health, financial, career development, and life goals as you grow professionally and personally to achieve your highest potential.
