SENIOR DEVOPS ENGINEER

Overview Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Mexico. Our client is a global leader in fleet management. As a Platform Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining the Internal Developer Platform (IDP). Your work will enable seamless self-service workflows for development teams, empowering rapid, reliable, and scalable software delivery through tools including GitHub, Azure DevOps, AWS, Python, and containerization technologies like Docker. Platform engineers create and maintain toolchains and infrastructure components that simplify developers’ day-to-day workflows, providing unified, self-service access and “golden paths” for regular tasks. It accelerates delivery, improves reliability, and elevates the developer experience while reducing operational complexity and cognitive load for engineering teams. Requirements 4+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure automation roles. Knowledge of GitHub workflows and Azure DevOps (pipelines, repos, boards). Deep understanding of AWS, building cloud native solutions. Advanced knowledge of Python for automation, CLI creation, and orchestration scripts. Experience with Docker for image building, registry management, and container orchestration. Strong experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, SAM). Understanding of CI/CD tools/practices like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, and Jenkins. Understanding of observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack). Familiarity with security fundamentals: RBAC, secrets management, vulnerability scanning. Strong cross-team communication and product mindset: treating the platform as a developer-facing product. Experience designing and delivering developer-friendly tooling and literature. Background in building internal platforms, abstractions, or developer ecosystems. Nice to have Familiarity with service mesh or GitOps tools (Istio, ArgoCD, Linkerd). Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid deployments. Responsibilities Architect and implement IDP components, including provisioning workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and operational tooling, accessible via GitHub and Azure DevOps integrations. Develop automation using IaC tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation), plus Python scripting to streamline infrastructure provisioning and management. Construct and refine pipelines using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps, enabling automated testing, deployment, and code quality gating. Build, manage, and optimize container-based workflows and images; integrate Docker into the platform to support reproducible environments and deployments. Design, implement, and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant AWS infrastructure (compute, networking, storage, serverless) to support platform services. Provide best practices for embedding security (encryption, access control, secrets management, and compliance), and deploy monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for platform observability. Build developer-facing abstractions, such as command-line tools or APIs, to simplify platform interactions and enable self‐service usage. Create clear documentation, runbooks, training materials, and onboarding guides; approach the platform as a product with a focus on developer usability. Engage with development and security teams to understand pain points and requirements, prioritize platform features, and continuously improve based on feedback Monitor platform health, troubleshoot issues, perform capacity planning, and optimize resource utilization to maintain performance and reliability.
