Analyst Controls Engineer – Dematic Responsibilities Visualization Design of Material Handling Automation Systems, working independently with minimal guidance from a professional‑level engineer, while coordinating activities according to level of responsibility. Responsible for providing Visualization Solutions. Work closely with the Controls Engineer Lead, Project Managers, System Integration Managers, the Customer and required areas to develop and implement Visualization Solutions. Travel as needed to the site to work on the Visualization commissioning. Prepare Visualization documents (calculations, design specifications, commissioning checklist) independently. Attend Technical Reviews to ensure a complete understanding of the Visualization Scope, critical dates, third‑party and special technologies. Review Technical Review information, control drawings, PLC code and complementary information to perform Visualization design and commissioning. Mentor and share knowledge with less experienced engineers. Develop and design multiple or single projects of moderate to considerable complexity, medium to large‑sized projects. Support coordination, mentor standard work, provide guidance for other less‑experienced engineers, audit and observe improvements in teamwork. Participate in project staff meetings and collaborate on technical observations to deliver on‑time, high‑quality deliverables. Schedule meetings with project stakeholders according to milestones and complete deliverables. Develop strategic agility to anticipate problems, opportunities and align work with business objectives. Apply project management skills, task organization, meeting deadlines, resource management and technical leadership within projects. Understand business impact of engineering decisions on costs, profitability and competitiveness. Design Phase Tasks Attend the technical review, request project information from the controls team (programs, drawings, builder aliases, delivery dates, access, server information). Request licenses for software (Ignition, Iconics, FactoryTalk, Kepware). Log into Maestro, load the project, and create the .json file for the VTool. Import the .json file into the VTool. Create areas, assign objects to each control area, assign operational areas, and create dashboards. Generate and link the generic GDF to the VTool. Create tags for each device in the project, following the AOIs from the PLC program, and generate their objects in the GDF. Create tags for the cabinet. Work with any special equipment or third‑party software (FlexSort, DMS, RapidPal, monorail, stackers/destackers, robots, etc.). Extract files for the workbench on the server (assets and alarms). Convert GDF to a mobile HMI version for the server. Server Configuration Tasks Request server information (IP) and access with controls/customer IT; request credentials if needed. Test remote access to the server once connected. Move software and project files to the server. Install software and activate relevant licenses. Configure server(s) as required (single/multi‑server). Commissioning Phase Tasks Run the tool files in Spyder/Script for a quality check before moving everything to the server. Upload the VTool files to the workbench. Clean up the project tags using the quality tool; achieve 100% good quality remotely before traveling to the site. Verify missing enable, jam or e‑stop alarms by comparing the list with the program. Travel to the site and complete the Visualization commissioning Checklist. Test at least two statuses for each bed on site (trigger jams and motor faults; test manual status if available). Verify any alarms that are not working to ensure each alarm functions properly. Coordinate stop testing with controls – 100% of the stops must be performed. Test all special equipment with the support of controls. Update the layout to match the actual on‑site installation. Check reports, dashboards, views, zooms and all screen features are working; make adjustments and fixes as needed. Schedule a training session with the client, preferably including personnel who will use the system. Follow up for a few days after delivery regarding any changes the client may require.
