Passion, innovation, and diversity are all key components to advancing our Mission and we encourage you to apply.**YOUR POSITION WITH TNC**:TNC seeks a Communications Specialist to develop, manage and implement a marketing, communication and media strategy that facilitates comprehension, adoption and advancement of goals and objectives of a project entitled “Sustainable and Prosperous Communities (SPC)” funded by USAID. The objective of this five-year project is to increase hectares under sustainable management, accelerate profitable and integrated productive systems, and contribute to GHG emissions and deforestation reductions, while improving smallholder producers’ livelihoods in Southeastern Mexico (Chiapas, Oaxaca, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo). In this position, the Communications Specialist will support the team in all communication matters including coordination with the donor and the other consortium partners.**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:The Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing focused marketing, communication, and media strategies to help drive project strategy. They help facilitate on-going communication according to the requirements of SPC and the donor, and in alignment with TNC’s regional and global communications teams. The primary audiences for this communication strategy include rural communities in Southeastern Mexico, businesses with sustainability strategies related to the value chains in the project, state governments, project partners and donors. They coordinate projects and manage timelines and specific deliverables with the TNC team and the donor. They use TNC’s code of conduct and competencies as a guide for their actions and to be an example for others. They will be located in Mexico City or Merida (preferred).Due to legal requirements in Mexico, we can only hire Mexican citizens for this position.**RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE**:- Manages and implements communications projects.- Responsible for writing, developing, maintaining, and distributing relevant communication and media materials and coordinate with the team in the creation of support materials such as presentations, social media content, talking points and communications strategies for events.- Ensure consistency and quality in all communications materials.- In coordination with the project team, support the development of quarterly and annual reports and prepare weekly highlights for the donor.- Coordinate and supervise communication, branding and marketing with the consortium partners.- Support the creation of content for social media in coordination with TNC and the donor, and supervise publication of social media content with consortium partners when necessary.- Manage storage and distribution of media/communication materials.- Works with vendors/other parties to execute communications projects/deliverables.- Maintains media contacts, writes press releases, and responds to media requests and inquiries.- Duties are performed under general supervision and established guidelines.- Excel at TNC´s organizational competencies***MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:- Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.- Experience designing, implementing and evaluating communications plans and strategies.- Experience organizing and coordinating multiple communications projects.- Experience developing, writing and/or editing publications and related materials.- Writing, presentation, communication skills experience.- Experience coordinating communications for events.- Verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish.- If selected for the
