Commodity Specialist

The Commodity Specialist will be responsible for sourcing excellence and cost reduction opportunities with a strategic mindset and approach. They will have high visibility and growth potential In-Direct Procurement role working on global commodities with key stakeholders including those at the highest levels in the company.General Responsibilities- Leads collaboration with functional areas to populate sourcing events, making decisions on sourcing event structure, supplier pool, selection criteria and event outcome criteria- Leadsactivities as required cross-functionally, including Planning, Engineering, Quality, Programs, Finance, Legal and Manufacturing- Leads in the continuous development of the Procurement function towards the best practices- Responsible for the delivering of corporate aligned procurement objectives supporting total company strategic vision- Lead with implementing communication strategies to ensure accurate and timely flow of information to upper management, business partners, and suppliers- Lead in supplier risk assessments, risk management and disaster recovery planningExperience / Qualifications- A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.- Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands- Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation- Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results- Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity- Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)- Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customersPosition SummaryForward looking, proactive associate with negotiation and communication skills as well as commodity knowledge that helps drive competitive pricing, develops suppliers and resolves problems to support and maintain a fluent supply chain for direct material from Sensata suppliers to our manufacturing sites.Key Responsibilities- Driving cost reduction for purchased parts through price negotiation- Driving cost reduction for purchased parts through best cost sourcing- Driving cost reduction for purchased parts with suppliers through VA/VE initiatives- Drive inventory reduction initiatives through implementation of VMI programs and stocking agreements.- Support site operations in material shortage escalations.- Keep External Capacity Management module accurate by creating and maintaining capacity buckets.- Collaborate in the implementation of site Cost Reduction Annual Plan.- Maintenance of CR annual plan- Monthly review of sourcing’ financial goals and results- Collaborate in annual setting of standard cost for purchased components.- Resolve invoices on hold by resolving pricing discrepancies and leading the resolution of invoices with other issues (missing receipts, partial receipts)- PO and Blanket PO creation and maintenance for purchased parts, tooling and other expenses.- Quarterly creation of supplier scorecards and supplier evaluation targeting poor performance suppliers and implementing corrective actions.- Developing sourcing strategy for suppliers amongst buyer’s commodities.- Develop suppliers as working partners that will share Sensata’s vision and core values.- Develop supplier relationships.- Support in NPD supplier selection process.- Lead and support Change Management projects.Specific Requirements- Bachelor’s degree or above, majoring in mechanical/electrical/business administration or its equivalent.- With at least 2 years of work experience as a commodity buyer.- With at least 5 years of work experience in a manufacturing industry (automotive preferred)- Negotiation skills- Problem solving skills- Teamwork oriented- Ability to work under pressure- Good communications skills- Fluent in English, both verbally and written.- Availability to travelSmarterTogether- Collaborating at Sensata means working with some of the world’s most talented people in an enriching environment that is constantly pushing towards the next best thing- Employees work across functions, countries and cultures gaining new perspectives through mutual respect and open communication- As OneSensata, we are working together to make things work togetherClick here to viewSensata Recruitment Privacy StatementClick here to view ourSensata Recruitment Privacy Statement for China
