We are the Oracle Linux team. Our goal is to deliver the operating system of choice for Oracle customers, Oracle cloud, and Oracle Engineered Systems by building the best Linux distribution. Our team improves the Linux kernel and promotes the adoption of Linux at Oracle and in the industry in general. We distribute the upstream UEK kernel, a Linux OS that combines performance with enterprise stability.Oracle has been an active contributor to Linux since 1998, shipping the first-ever commercial database on Linux and contributing multiple feature improvements. Our core focus is developing open-source products and improving the stability and performance of the OS.Joining our team you’ll have the phenomenal opportunity to build your expertise in Cloud technologies, Core Linux features, Open Source development, Containers, and the latest automation and development tools.Career Level - IC3**Responsibilities**:- Maintain and develop open source-based products and solutions- Work with internal Oracle teams and open-source communities on improvements and optimizations of Linux user space components and implementing new solutions- Help improve our infrastructure and take part in developing new infrastructure- Take decisions on choosing the right approach and hold responsibility for them- Advocate **standard processes**with other **specialists**, when it comes to development, triage, tuning, QA, and deployment**Qualifications**:- Strong technical background in-depth understanding of Linux OS internals and software delivery- Experience with different families of Linux distributions as a plus (deb-based/rpm-based)- 3+ years of DevOps, Software Development, or Q/A- Ability and desire to resolve bugs, from debugging to deployment of fixes in production- Readiness to connect with different teams- Experience with Linux software package management systems is a plus- Some understanding of cloud and container technologies is needed, good expertise in this area is a plus- Open-source development experience is a huge plusAdditionally, this position offers a chance to work with the wider Linux community, including upstream developers.
