We’re building the most beloved and innovative tech organization in Latin America—and we’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Risk & Credit team.About the Role As a Senior Backend Engineer (Golang & Java), you’ll help design and build the backend systems that support our Risk and Credit partners, internal teams, and long-term scalability. You’ll work with a modern cloud-based stack, develop critical APIs and services, and contribute to our engineering culture of quality, ownership, and growth.What You’ll Do- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services in Golang and Java.- Develop APIs and integrations that enable merchants and internal teams to interact with our platform reliably and efficiently.- Own problems end-to-end—from identifying needs to deploying code in production.- Work closely with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver value iteratively.- Help define and improve our engineering processes, testing strategies, observability standards, and DevOps practices. Foster a strong culture of documentation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.- Mentor peers, review code, and actively participate in technical discussions.What We’re Looking ForTechnical Must-Haves:- 4+ years of experience building backend systems or APIs.- Production-level experience with Golang and Java.- Experience working with distributed systems, E-commerce APIs, or integration-heavy platforms.- Strong testing, debugging, and system design skills.- Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) our stack:- Golang, Java, some Python- AWS (ECS, Lambda), CI/CD (Pulumi, Jenkins)- Observability tools like DataDog- You write clean, testable, maintainable code and prioritize long-term value.Collaboration & Mindset:- Great communication skills (Spanish required; English for some vendors or teammates).- Comfortable working in evolving environments with changing priorities.- Value team collaboration, documentation, and iteration.- Passion for learning, mentoring, and growing with your team.- Strong sense of ownership and product mindset.Bonus Points For:- Experience in Fintech, Risk and Credit, or regulated environments.- Familiarity with on-call, incident response, and high-availability systems.- Passion for DevOps culture and building systems with strong observability.- Love for PR feedback, small batch delivery, and reducing scope over chasing perfection.Why Aplazo- Work on impactful systems in the fast-growing fintech space in LatAm.- Join a company with a strong engineering culture and product focus.- Collaborate with a high-caliber team from companies like Uber, Google, Rappi, and Stitch Fix.- Flexible remote environment with real ownership and growth opportunities.
