This scientist will be essential in helping us create best-in-class seller tools, monitoring and improving performance and adoption of these tools, and working to ensure new sellers onboarding to Etsy have a smooth process. As a senior data scientist, you will be a key partner in shaping the future of the Etsy seller service roadmap. This position acts as a leader and collaborator with product, design, engineering, and research to drive insights. We are looking for someone who understands how to weigh opportunities, create unique insights, and is passionate about thinking and communicating around the seller experience. If so, this could be the perfect match.This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Manager of Payments and Seller Services Analytics In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.**What’s this team like at Etsy?**- Leading improvements to the seller experience using data driven insights- Understanding the nuances of Etsy’s sellers how they interplay with Etsy’s right to win- Building rich data sources of truth that interweave sophisticated seller data and foundational data from across the Etsy ecosystem- Finding and advocating for outstanding opportunities for Etsy’s growth that move critical metrics- We are a remote friendly team - all of our collaboration is inclusive of folks in an office and on the screen**What does the day-to-day look like?**- Develop insights from trends and research in our seller data.- Work with our seller product teams to ensure launches are impactful and the seller experience is being improved.- Build foundational scripts using SQL and database skills.- Craft outstanding dashboards and visualizations using Looker.- Participate in dialogues with external vendors and collaborators, including technical developers.- Connect with partners on timelines, priorities, and expectations for proposals.- Continually evaluate and refine your technical toolkit; share what you learn with the team.- Possess a deep level of curiosity and appetite for learning, which drives you to finding outstanding solutions.- Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.**Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are**:- 4+ years experience supporting seller side e-commerce, or product/engineering teams as an analyst or in a quantitative role in which you extracted meaning from sophisticated data sets.- Have an understanding of two-sided marketplaces and e-commerce processes.- A proficiency in SQL and some experience with Python or R.- Fluent in English with the ability to communicate your insights verbally, visually and in writing.- A deep care about the quality of your data and the integrity of your work.- A passion for reproducible work and tools to this end; you can mentor others how to make their own work better and more efficient.- Validated project management skills and capability in carrying projects through to completion.- A trust in and dedication to Etsy’s vision, mission and values.**Additional Information**What's NextIf you're interested in joining the team at Etsy, please share your resume with us and feel free to include a cover letter if you'd like.
