Renowned for their high-service, cross-border, expedited freight movements, they leverage B1 team drivers and a robust terminal network spanning from Mexico to the Midwestern states.
THE POSITION
You will serve as Mexico Human Resources Director, acting as a trusted, strategic business partner, coach, and understanding the people’s needs and business requirements of the assigned business areas. Partnering with business leaders and HR Directors from Canada and USA, this role ensures employees are aligned and equipped to deliver business results. Ideally, the HR Director should have a deep business acumen, a solid understanding of HR, and a track record of delivering high-impact results. People strategies must be clarified and guided by this individual, who must be strategic and business-focused. This position is based in Monterrey, NL Mexico (Cienega de Flores, NL).
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand conditions and trends in the business and effectively develop and deliver strategies to address these issues.
- Manage a high performing HR Team that drives results through a simple, easy to understand structure that makes HR adaptable and efficient.
- Work with Corporate HR Vice President and HR leaders to ensure alignment and implementation of workforce strategies, actively leveraging metrics and analytics where appropriate.
- Collaborate with Corporate HR Vice President to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
- Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Administer or oversee the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, worker compensation, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations.
- Develop and manage performance evaluation processes and ensure continuous performance improvement and career development opportunities for employees.
- Identify staffing and recruiting needs; develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Oversee recruiting for non-drivers positions.
- Provide yearly performance evaluations for all company employees in Mexico.
- Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Handle employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance processes.
- Overview and control all responsibilities related to payroll.
- Identify training needs, design and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and career growth.
- Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Create and maintain a positive and inclusive workplace culture, fostering employee engagement, motivation, and retention.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to corporate management.
- Ensure effective HR service delivery and drive continual improvement; ensure activities leverage best practices, are coordinated, and focus on achieving desired results in alignment with the organization’s strategy.
- Perform other duties as required.
THE CANDIDATE
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree a plus.
- At least 10 years of human resource experience with at least 5 years in an HR Management role is required.
- Knowledge of the transportation industry is a plus.
- Human resource generalist background.
- Experience with compensation and benefits, talent acquisition and talent management, and training.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related Mexico labor laws and regulations and experience with employee relations.
- Must have solid experience with payroll management including calculation of “finiquitos.”
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Mobilization: Leadership skills and know-how to generate support and commitment from our employees.
- Experienced HR generalist: Good knowledge of the different fields of expertise in HR in relation to the local Mexico Labor Code to fully assimilate the issues related to each aspect.
- Change management. Company is undergoing aggressive growth.
- Practical approach: You will participate in the daily management of all HR practices such as the management of benefits or disability files, employment equity or talent acquisition.
- Analytical and informed: Programs must be adapted to Mexican laws and culture with an open mind to bridge cultural gaps.
