Regional Accountant

Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Regional Accountant to oversee the financial operations of our wholly-owned Mexican subsidiary. Based in Merida, you will report directly to the US Corporate Controller and serve as the primary point of contact for all regional accounting matters. The ideal candidate is fully bilingual (English/Spanish), possesses deep technical knowledge of both US GAAP and IFRS, and is capable of managing the full cycle of accounting operations from transaction processing to financial reporting and statutory compliance. With thousands of clients and 350 worldwide employees we are a privately held, profitable and growing software company looking for exceptional people to join our team Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations & Financial Management Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Cash Management, and General Ledger maintenance. Manage the local payroll process, ensuring accurate calculations and timely payments to employees and government entities. Perform month-end and year-end close procedures for the Mexico entity, ensuring books are closed accurately and on schedule. Financial Reporting & Compliance In conjunction with local accounting firm, prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS. Partner with local external accounting firms to ensure strict compliance with Mexican statutory accounting requirements and tax filings (SAT) and all local returns, including VAT (IVA), Income Tax (ISR), and payroll taxes. Consolidation & Corporate Support Facilitate the consolidation of Mexican subsidiary financials into the US parent company, ensuring accurate currency translation and mapping. Perform and review intercompany reconciliations to ensure alignment between the US parent and Mexico subsidiary. Support the Corporate Controller with transfer pricing documentation and calculations to ensure compliance with arm’s length standards. Controls & Process Improvement Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data. Identify opportunities to streamline local accounting processes and implement best practices to improve efficiency. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Licenciatura en Contaduría). CPA (Contador Público Certificado) or equivalent certification is highly preferred. Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Prior experience working for a US subsidiary or multinational corporation is strongly preferred. Technical Skills: Demonstrated expertise in both US GAAP and IFRS . Strong knowledge of Mexican tax laws and statutory reporting requirements. Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills. Language: Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
