Position Summary Responsible to act as manufacturing liaison and coordinate all activities affecting the production or introduction of new products into the manufacturing cycle, particularly, those related to the welding process. Responsible for developing the Welding Procedure Specification and recommending changes in the WPS to improve product reliability, manufacturability or cost. Responsible for development and expense control of manufacturing capital equipment and tooling needed for new product manufacture or improve equipment or process capabilities. Participates in product design and overall project and manufacturing schedule development. Evaluates, selects and applies welding and manufacturing engineering techniques to develop economical and efficient methods to produce parts and/or assemblies. Functions as internal advisor to clarify technical issues related to the welding process or procedure and support problem‑solving activities, responsible for welding control and heat‑treatment control in compliance with CSEI (AQSIQ). Duties Review and help generate product documentation pertaining to engineering drawings including initial release and subsequent revisions related to welding. Help develop manufacturing schedules and generate manufacturing plans for welding prototype, pre‑production and production. Develop clear and concise manufacturing specifications/instructions (WPS) to maintain quality and to assure smooth workflow through the factory. Provide floor support during the manufacturing cycle, verify standards, and update welding manufacturing specifications. Develop workmanship standards to accommodate welding manufacturing/inspection and assure conformance to specifications. Assure welding manufacturing facilities, tooling and test equipment are available to meet production requirements. Perform welding manufacturing studies leading to recommendations for new and improved methods, procedures and equipment utilization. Knowledge of ASME and PED codes. Knowledge of welding processes. Active participation of the safety, continuous improvement and training initiatives, which include but are not limited to: A3 certification and projects, STOP observations, monthly safety audits, SQDC board maintenance, upgrade and administration of KPI for the area, propose and execute CIP (cost improvement projects), maintenance of LSW sheet, upgrade and maintenance of initiatives using Dploy system. Education Bachelor's Degree in Engineering – General or Mechanical Engineering. Master's Degree (preferred). Required Experience 5 years experience in welding engineering disciplines, with progressively more responsibility. Must be technically knowledgeable of good manufacturing practices relating to welding machines, metal forming, metal joining, assembly. Experience with CREO and AutoCAD preferred. Experience working in engineering and/or manufacturing of welding pressure. Demonstrated leadership and project management experience. Demonstrated technical knowledge related to welding procedures. Skills & Business Competencies Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and decision‑making skills. Effective interpersonal skills to interact with cross‑functional team members.
