**What you will do****Johnson Controls has manufacturing locations in every region of the world. This position is responsible for the creation and presentation of monthly, quarterly and year over year market intelligence updates. In addition, guidance to business leadership and economic impact is calculated and communicated. This role is responsible for the strategic direction of the category through strategy creation and approval. This position serves as the category team lead and maintains a regular cadence of reviews with the extended business unit procurement team to ensure alignment and execution of strategy.****Main areas of focus are**:**- **Responsible for strategic sourcing of defined global commodities**:- **Design the perfect sourcing footprint for the commodity / sub commodities, define the roadmaps and make it happen**:**How you will do it**:**- **Develop category strategies for key global commodities**:- **Ensure alignment of commodity strategies to business requirements and objectives**:- **Drive cost savings through low cost country sourcing, supplier rationalization, value engineering, etc**:- **Supplier contract/price negotiations**:- **Trade Working Capital improvements**:- **Act as a center of excellence for the respective categories through complete understanding of industry, competition, key players, future technologies and innovations, etc**:- **Support Knowledge Based Sourcing (KBS) initiatives for the respective categories**:- **Actively support and participate in resolving supplier delivery, quality or commercial issues which have been escalated to the category team**:- **Coordination of purchasing strategies across all plants that consume the respective categories**:- **Control and improve purchasing controlling and cost analysis in order to achieve savings and cost tracking**:- **Own and drive towards effective make/buy decisions and analysis**:- **Lead supply base and supplier development activities**:- **Leverage of purchases across all business units and regions globally**:- **Meet or exceed profit plan goals related to categories: cost savings, economics, quality, supplier rationalization, LCC% content and other agreed business objectives.**:**Qualifications / Requirements**:**- **Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent combined education and experience.**:- **5+ years of experience in a related Purchasing role.**:- **CPM Certification and HVAC experience preferred.**:- **Previous Supply Chain experience preferred.**:- **SAP ERP system experience preferred.**:**What we look for****Required skills/experience***:- **Experience within Large Mfg or Multi-industry global organization**:- **Min. 8-10 years of progressive procurement experience**:- **Extensive global sourcing experience**:- **Capability to interface with senior leadership across regions both internally and externally**:- **In depth understanding of purchasing tools and practices**:- **Strong MS Office skills**:- **Strong costing and analytical skills**:- **Working knowledge of SAP or other equivalent ERP systems**:***Preferred skills/experience***:- **HVAC, Engineering, Fire Safety, Security or related industry experience**:
