Job Description

This position will report to the Sr. Contracts Manager Western Hemisphere and support the Latin America region. The Contracts & Negotiations Manager (C&N Manager) will act as trusted business advisor who works collaboratively across business, sales, other functions, and senior management and provides leadership, guidance, and innovation in the contracting and negotiating of customer agreements. The C&N Manager will lead the contracting, risk review, and negotiation planning and authorization processes in a manner that is consistent with company values and policies. This individual will be a key player in providing support in the formation of new and the day-to-day modifications to various contracts, associated documentation, and software license agreements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The C&N Manager will:

Review and evaluate terms and conditions and make recommendations for their revision and/or acceptance.

Demonstrate an understanding of company standard terms and conditions as well as policies, procedures, processes and the roles and responsibilities supporting them.

Provide guidance and leadership to sales, other functions, and business management in addressing a broad range of contract matters regarding legal, financial and performance risk, aiming to help attain company business goals.

Advises business management on our contractual rights and remedies throughout the duration of a business relationship.

Team with the business management and other functions to manage contract disputes.

Possess and demonstrate a core competency in leading teams in the planning, authorization, and execution of negotiations in a responsive, professional, and business-like manner.

Provide support to other law/compliance-related matters or to other members of Office of General Counsel as needed.

Skills Required

Excellent working knowledge of law, especially commercial, contract and corporate law.

Well-developed negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills indicative of an ability to lead, motivate, and guide businesspeople and provide needed direction.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required to develop creative solutions to complex business relationships.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively build and manage relationships.

Personal qualities that include the ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines; attention to detail and being a hands-on, creative results-oriented provider of value-added service capability to support the businesses’ contracting needs globally. Emphasis is on being proactive, showing great initiative and self-direction in accomplishing daily tasks.

Strategic business focus as well as a strong code of ethics.

Flexibility and resilience, including ability to adapt to changing/uncertain or ambiguous conditions. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Proficiency of working in a complex, global oil & gas business that has a combination of industrial automation, measurement and digital solutions, related products and services and/or software to ensure integration of technical, complex and/or sensitive business issues.

Proficient with Microsoft Office suite

Fluent in English and Spanish (native Spanish speaker preferred)

Portuguese is preferable but not required

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in law with 5+ years of contract management and negotiations experience. Experience working in a geographically dispersed environment. Experience in corporate matters and state-owned contracting is preferred.
