POSITION SUMMARY

As a member of the Caribbean and Latin America Finance team, the Senior Accountant will report to the Senior Finance Manager, Finance Administration and will provide financial project management, analysis, budget tracking & reconciliation, and support the day-to-day financial and operational management of the CALA International Marketing Fund. The primary focus of this position is providing accounting administration support and analysis for the budget tracking & reconciliation, and support the day-to-day financial and operational management of the CALA International Marketing Fund & CALA Above-Property team, with a focus on the following:

• Support Monthly Close process and prepare journal entries.

• Processing invoices against the IMF Budget with appropriate allocation.

• Monitor & track the CALA IMF Budget, encompassing all individual brand & loyalty accounts.

• Provide support to manage the finance systems & allocations affecting the CALA IMF.

• Perform monthly general ledger processing and provide reports.

• Develop periodic measurements, trends, analysis, productivity reports, forecast, etc.

• Provide ad hoc analysis to support the Consumer Operations team.

• Partnering with the CALA & HQ finance partners to review reports & ensure alignment and accuracy.

• Provide monthly analysis on the CALA Consumer Operation's P&Ls.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and conduct P&L reviews.

This person will focus on the Consumer Ops discipline; however, he/she may also perform duties that relate to other disciplines as well, as business needs require.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTION

• Work with Senior Director, Marketing to establish and create the annual budget spread for brand marketing funds.

• Record and process transactions accurately and timely.

• Review general ledgers during month end close for accuracy. Complete journal entry reclasses as necessary.

• Provide support/reviews and critique monthly, quarterly, and annual results.

• Reconcile CALA IMF accounts in accordance with SOPs and prepare for quarterly review.

• Ensure MIP - 44 and MIP - 66 - controls are in place. Transactions should be processed and recorded according to Marriott Financial SOPs.

• Full year management and tracking of accruals.

• Provide accounting support for annual forecasting/budget process for accounts under his/her responsibility which includes preparation of detail forecast/budgets, and allocations.

• Ensure budgets are accurate; costs are recorded properly and statements distributed to the appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.

• Support a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations, profitability and mitigate risk.

• Execute a robust tracking and forecasting routine for the CALA IMF Budget.

• Create or utilize reports to assist in proactively monitoring financial control environment for CALA IMF Fund.

• Prepare reporting and analysis for all accounts across the CALA IMF fund, across all brands on a monthly/period/quarterly basis (e.g. roll-ups, exception reporting), and provide ongoing analytical support to our key stakeholders in the continent.

• Work with other Consumer Operations above-property team members on major department deliverables to ensure overall success of the team.

• Ensure all assets are recorded and depreciated in the appropriate units and in accordance with Corporate policy.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• BS/BA in accounting, finance or related field.

• 4 years of relevant accounting/finance experience.

• Marriott experience as a hotel Assistant Director of Finance a plus.

• Thorough knowledge of the principles, procedures, and techniques of accounting, and of financial records and transactions including, but not limited to, generally accepted accounting principles.

• Strong communications (verbal and written), organization and presentation skills.

• Proficient knowledge of Excel required.

• Knowledge of operating procedures, controls and governances.

• Ability to leverage resources in the accomplishment of objectives.

• Exceptional organizational skills. Effective in prioritizing work and following through on commitments. Project management skills.

• Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work with and communicate effectively with all levels of management.

• Effective decision-making skills, can choose a prompt course of action amongst options involving uncertainty or risk.

• Strong problem-solving skills; encourages innovative solutions when appropriate.
