Optical Communications Segment Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry‑leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. Scope of Position Develop, configure and support network devices and solutions to align with Corning’s technology standards and meet the connectivity needs of our businesses. Roles and Responsibilities Serve as network subject matter expert, providing technical expertise and operational support to a complex global network environment. Act as Network Operations DDI expert. Monitor and maintain network infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve network issues to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance. Collaborate with IT teams in cross‑functional troubleshooting. Maintain documentation of network processes and procedures. Perform RCA (root cause analysis) on issues, taking preventative measures to avoid recurrence. Collaborate with Architect and Engineering teams to improve network reliability and performance. Manage application transport and network infrastructure protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF. Evaluate and refine handover and training documentation provided by engineering teams. Participate in on‑call rotation for after‑hours network support. Education and Work Experience 4‑year degree in Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with network monitoring and management tools in a large enterprise environment, including incident and change ticket management. 3+ years of campus network operation, redundant network design and maintenance, and troubleshooting for cross‑site WAN/LAN performance or routing issues. Experience analyzing requirements for implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting network devices/functions/tools/processes is a plus. Required Skills Strong knowledge of DHCP and IP address management, including administration, monitoring and troubleshooting. Experience in management and troubleshooting of DNS. Understanding of network protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs). Skilled in configuring and managing network devices (e.g., routers, switches, wireless). Experience with monitoring/alerting/forensic tools (SolarWinds, NetBrain, CACTI, Wireshark). Experience with network security practices and tools (e.g., NAC). Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate clearly in English. Ability to work independently and as part of a global team. Cisco or Arista hardware experience is mandatory (Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches, and design of switch redundancy). Self‑starter; capable of working in a team environment. Willingness to be on call for after‑hours support and participate in on‑call rotation. Desired Skills CCNA or ACE Level 2 (Arista Certified Engineer). Experience with firewalls (Palo Alto), Juniper, Mist Access Points, VMware SDWAN. Experience with automation and coding, scripting network changes. Understanding of ITIL, NIST and COBIT frameworks. Travel Up to 10 % travel required.
