Materials Manager Job Purpose The Materials Manager ensures the timely supply of materials to meet production plans in the right quality, quantity, time, and cost. This role drives operational excellence by optimizing warehouse performance, safeguarding personnel safety, and coordinating effectively with Purchasing, Logistics, and Customer Service to maintain a smooth and efficient supply chain. Key Responsibilities Lead warehouse and materials operations to achieve zero accidents while promoting a culture of safety and accountability. Maintain optimal inventory levels of raw materials (Flat and Foam) and finished goods (FG) to ensure uninterrupted production and on-time deliveries. Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce operational waste. Coordinate timely supply, receipt, and dispatch of materials to guarantee plant availability and production continuity. Manage the departmental budget, controlling costs while maximizing operational performance. Monitor supplier performance, expedite critical materials, and proactively address supply chain risks. Foster effective communication with Customer Service and cross-functional teams to protect the end-to-end supply chain. Oversee maintenance and optimal utilization of forklifts and warehouse equipment to ensure reliability and safety. Prepare monthly performance reports, dashboards, and KPIs to support data-driven decisions. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental policies, as well as NOM-035, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, CELC, CTPAT, and OEA standards. Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related fields. Experience: Minimum of 8 years in materials management within the automotive industry. At least 6 years in managerial or leadership positions. Desirable knowledge of: Lean Manufacturing Strategic Planning 8D Methodology Coaching and Mentoring Excellent Negotiation skills Basic knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, CELC–CTPAT–OEA, and Industrial Safety Core Competencies Strong leadership and teamwork. Analytical thinking and results orientation. Assertive communication and negotiation skills. Customer-focused mindset (internal and external). Efficient resource and KPI management.
