Advanced Welding Engineer

Select how often (in days) to receive an alert:At STERIS, we help our Customers create a healthier and safer world by providing innovative healthcare and life science product and service solutions around the globe.Position SummaryResponsible to act as manufacturing liaison and coordinate all activities affecting the production or introduction of new products into the manufacturing cycle, particulary, those related to the welding process.Responsible for Develop the Welding Procedure Specification and recommend changes in the WPS to improve product reliability, manufacturability or cost.Responsible for development and expense control of manufacturing capital equipment and tooling needed for new product manufacture or improve equipment or process capabilities.Participates in product design and overall project and manufacturing schedule development. Evaluates, selects and applies Welding and Manufacturing Engineering techniques to develop economical and efficient methods to produce piece parts and/or assemblies.Function as internal advisor to clarify technical issues related to the welding process or procedure and support in problem solving activities and responsible of Welding Control and Heat Treatment Control in compliance with CSEI (AQSIQ).DutiesReview and help generate product documentation pertaining to engineering drawings including initial release and subsequent revisions related to welding.Helps to develop manufacturing schedules and generates manufacturing plans for welding prototype, pre-production and production.Develop clear and concise manufacturing specifications/instructions (WPS) to maintain quality and to assure smooth work flow through the factory.Provide floor support during the manufacturing cycle, verify standards, and update welding manufacturing specifications.Develop workmanship standards to accommodate welding manufacturing/inspection and assure conformance to specifications.Assure welding manufacturing facilities, tooling and test equipment are available to mmet production requirements.Perform welding manufacturing studies leading to recommmendations for new and improved methods, procedures and equipment utilization.Knowledge of ASME and PED codesKnowledge of welding processesFunction as internal advisor to clarify technical uissues related to the welding process or procedure and support in problem solving activities.Active participation of the SAFETY, CONTINUOS IMPROVEMENT and TRAINING initiatives, which include but are not limited to: A3 Certification and projects, STOP Observations, Monthly Safety Audits, SQDC board maintenance, upgrade and administration of KPI for the area, propose and execute CIP (Cost Improvement Projects), maintenance of LSW sheet, upgrade and maintenance of initiatives using Dploy system.Education DegreeBachelor's Degree en Engineering General o Mechanical EngineeringMaster's DegreeRequired Experience5 years experience in welding engineering disciplines, with progressively more responsibility.Must technically knowledgeable to good manufacturing practices relating to welding machines, metal forming, metal joining, assembly.Experience with CREO and AutoCAD preferred.Experience working in engineering and / or manufacturing of welding presure.Demonstrated leadership and project management experience.Demonstrated technical knowledge related to welding prosedures.Skilss & Business CompetenciesExcellent organizational, analytical, communication, and decision making skills.Effective interpersonal to interact with cross-functional team membersSTERIS is a leading global provider of products and services that support patient care with an emphasis on infection prevention.
