Lead HR Generalist - Americas Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to global enterprises. We are seeking an experienced HR leader to build and scale the Americas HR function and partner with senior leaders across the organization. Location Remote – AMER region Role Overview The Lead HR Generalist will serve as a driver and practitioner for both regional and global HR initiatives. Key responsibilities include providing accurate, compliant HR operations, advising on the full employee life-cycle, and partnering with business leaders to build high-performing teams. Responsibilities Deliver precise, compliant HR operations with high accuracy and timeliness. Collaborate with the Americas HR Manager and Global Head of HR across all HR regions. Manage talent development, succession planning, performance assessments, onboarding, culture, and engagement initiatives. Work with managers on performance management, organizational design, employee engagement, rewards, and workforce planning. Partner with the HRIS team to refine operational HR processes. Coach people managers on employee relations across multiple countries. Support the delivery of training and development programs. Establish a trusted partnership with business stakeholders. Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Design new policies and manage business-critical HR projects globally. Qualifications Exceptional academic record from high school and university. HR experience leading cross-regional initiatives within a technology business. Experience in Latin America (Brazil and / or Mexico) with local labor law knowledge. Senior stakeholder business-partnering experience. Balance of leading and executing; daily HR routine involvement. Mentoring and development experience. Strong project management skills with deliverable ownership. Remote-first organization experience. Data-driven decision making. Fluent business English (written and spoken). Self-motivated, organized, accurate, confident, authentic, results-oriented, open-minded, and enthusiastic. Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events. Preferred Skills Immigration policies and mobility processes knowledge. Payroll and / or benefits oversight experience. HR systems and database knowledge. Professional HR certification(s).
