The district offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and professional development opportunities.Position Details 1.0 FTE, 12 months, Position Number: 00120493, FLSA Exempt, Position Type Classified, Bargaining Unit Management, Range M, Department EquityThe Position: San Diego Miramar College invites qualified candidates for the role of Director of Native American Student Support & Success Program (Special Projects Manager II) to support diverse student populations and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).Strategic Context The college seeks to build an environment that embraces DEI, anti-racism, and social justice, with ongoing professional development and equity-minded practices across instructional pedagogy, student services, and employment processes.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate, facilitate, manage, organize, and implement the grant to support native student success services (peer mentorship; course-specific cohorts; counseling and wraparound services; faculty and staff professional development; core matriculation services; tribal liaison).Develop support services and programs for American Indian / Alaska Native communities on campus.Ensure compliance with grant monitoring, expenditure, and reporting requirements.Set annual goals and objectives for grant outcomes; direct implementation, monitor progress, and evaluate results.Plan, organize, and conduct meetings, workshops, and professional development related to the grant.Collaborate with local tribes and community leaders to assess current and future needs to support student success; support American Indian / Alaska Native students in addressing those needs.Facilitate training on culturally responsive practices for Native students and communities.Gather and analyze student success and equity data in relation to grant objectives.Participate in state, local, and regional meetings and workshops related to the grant.Perform related duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge: Applicable sections of California Education Code; basics of budget development, financial management, grant monitoring, expenditures, and reporting; district organization and policies; oral and written communication; leadership, supervision, and training.Skills and Abilities: Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff; implement student success and equity frameworks; apply equity-minded and culturally responsive practices; prepare and manage state-reported plans and reports; problem solve and implement improvements; clear communication; experience with shared governance; build professional and community partnerships; commitment to supporting Native students and communities; experience working with tribal governments and communities; cultural competency across diverse backgrounds.Education & ExperienceDemonstrated experience working with Indigenous students or Tribal communitiesBA degree or 2–4 years related experience (education can be traded off by experience at a 2:1 ratio)Applicants with foreign degrees must have coursework evaluated by a professional credential evaluation service (NACES or ACEI) and submit the evaluation with the online application.Compliance & Diversity All applicants must demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse populations.
