Position SummaryThis position performs a full range of technical work including root cause analysis, data analysis, and creating test reports. It also runs laboratory empirical investigations resolving component-level root cause analysis, writes new test procedures, conducts inter-laboratory correlation studies, and reports associated with testing.Essential FunctionsPlans, conducts, and coordinates a broad range of complex engineering technical assignments requiring in-depth knowledge of foundation brake hardware and laboratory testing techniques including Instron force measurement, environmental testing (salt fog), and cycle durability quedar testing.Acts as an air brake foundation brake hardware technical expert in laboratory test methods, with limited guidance from engineering resources.Provides support to other Bendix departments requiring test support.Directs and coordinates laboratory activities of other test engineers or technicians on specific assignments, scheduling lab activities to ensure timely delivery of results to appropriate personnel.Ensures all policies and procedures for safety, security, upkeep, and disposition of company assets are managed appropriately for equipment assigned to the Wheel End team or owned by the company for general usage.Has appreciable latitude for independent action and decision.Position is non-super vermutlichatory.Defines, creates, and documents complex tests and test set‑ups, specifying necessary equipment and parts required.Implements process improvements and resolves test issues by involving team members and obtaining consensus or input.Analyzes data generated and trains others in data gathering, capable of making recommendations and conclusions to the Engineering product group.Interfaced with outside customers as needed by planning and scheduling necessary events (field inspections and/or installations).SkillsEffective at communicating complex testing principles with a variety of audiences including customers and suppliers.Self‑starter/self‑motivating with a bias for action and results-driven; detail-oriented and driven to complete assigned tasks on time.Capable of multi‑tasking and adapting to changing priorities. Strong problem‑solving skills.Solid analytical skills.Good organizational and project management skills.KnowledgeDemonstrated problem‑solving skills in a team environment.DFMEA and DVP&R processes. Ability to write test procedures and test plans. Confidence with technical presentations to OEM customers. Knowledge of ISO17025 a plus. Knowledge of pneumatic‑electric circuits. Knowledge of air brake systems a plus. Experience running brake tests. Experience with SAE J2995 a plus. Experience programming software for PLC or LabView.ExperienceAssociate degree in Engineering Technology and 5 years’ experience, or a high school degree and nine years of related technical experience.
