Discovery is seeking a skilled Payroll Manager for the Global Business Services People and Culture Shared Services Payroll Department. This role plays a crucial part in overseeing the seamless day-to-day delivery of payroll services. The ideal candidate should have expertise in handling US employee payroll, managing high-volume multi-state payroll, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations across all states, including US and expatriate employees, and experience in processing payroll for multiple legal entities. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate pay inputs, timely processing of tasks, and adherence to policy and regulatory standards. The Payroll Manager will lead the team in completing payroll accurately and on time, resolving errors, and engaging with various stakeholders for inquiries and audits.Your Role Accountabilities...
  • Manage daily U.S. payroll operations for over 20,000 employees and 50 legal entities.
  • Lead a team in payroll activities based on defined processing schedules, ensuring timely completion for various processing requirements.
  • Adhere to payroll processing and reporting deadlines.
  • Oversee payroll activities in designated systems.
  • Ensure accurate pay inputs and resolve payment-related issues.
  • Conduct data analysis and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Resolve operational and policy issues, support audits, and participate in meetings.
  • Ensure proper documentation of operational processes and procedures and training on payroll policies and systems.
  • Participate in system testing, collaborate with key stakeholders, and support other projects as directed by leadership.
Qualifications & Experience...
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in payroll operations, with experience in US Payroll.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Language Requirements: Must be bilingual (Spanish/English).
  • Technical Skills: Minimum 6 years of experience with specific payroll tools and advanced MS Excel knowledge required.
  • Leadership Presence: Ability to coach, develop teams, and foster a strong employee culture.
  • Process Management: Understanding of US regulations related to salaries, wages, taxes, and benefits.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong planning, time management, and analytical skills.
  • Communication & Influence: Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
  • Union Requirements: Knowledge of union agreements and pension systems preferred.
  • Global Perspective: International experience required with occasional travel within the US and Latin America.
