Position Summary

Responsible for acting as a manufacturing liaison and coordinating all activities impacting the production or introduction of new products into the manufacturing cycle, especially those related to the welding process.

Responsible for Developing the Welding Procedure Specification and suggesting modifications to enhance product reliability, manufacturability, or cost.

Accountable for the development and cost control of manufacturing capital equipment and tooling necessary for new product manufacturing or enhancing equipment or process capabilities.

Participates in product design and overall project and manufacturing schedule development. Evaluates, selects, and applies Welding and Manufacturing Engineering techniques to create economical and efficient methods for producing piece parts and/or assemblies.

Acts as an internal advisor to clarify technical issues concerning the welding process or procedure and supports in problem-solving activities and ensures Welding Control and Heat Treatment Control compliance with CSEI (AQSIQ).

Duties
  • Review and assist in generating product documentation related to engineering drawings, including initial release and subsequent revisions related to welding.
  • Aids in developing manufacturing schedules and creates manufacturing plans for welding prototypes, pre-production, and production.
  • Develop clear and concise manufacturing specifications/instructions (WPS) to maintain quality and ensure smooth workflow through the factory.
  • Provide floor support during the manufacturing cycle, verify standards, and update welding manufacturing specifications.
  • Develop workmanship standards to accommodate welding manufacturing/inspection and ensure conformity to specifications.
  • Ensure welding manufacturing facilities, tooling, and test equipment are available to meet production requirements.
  • Conduct welding manufacturing studies leading to recommendations for new and improved methods, procedures, and equipment utilization.
  • Knowledge of ASME, PED, and welding procedures.
  • Act as an internal advisor to clarify technical issues regarding the welding process or procedure and support in problem-solving activities.
  • Active involvement in SAFETY, CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT, and TRAINING initiatives, including activities such as A3 Certification and projects, STOP Observations, Monthly Safety Audits, SQDC board maintenance, upgrade and administration of KPI in the area.
Education Degree

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering General or Engineering General

Required Experience
  • 5 years' experience in welding engineering disciplines, with increasing responsibilities.
  • Must have technical knowledge of good manufacturing practices related to welding machines, metal forming, metal joining, and assembly.
  • Experience with CREO and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Experience working in engineering and/or manufacturing of welding pressure.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management experience.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge related to welding procedures.
