We are looking for an experienced Director of People & Culture to join our next opening in Playa Mujeres, Cancun Mexico. As a key leader in the opening of this exciting hotel, the Director of People & Culture will play a pivotal role in building the opening team, in shaping the team member experience, and fostering a culture of inclusiveness and exceptional guest service. This role will report to the General Manager and will be member of the Executive Committee.
Ennismore, in partnership with Accor's luxury brand team, is currently undertaking a magnificent project in the oasis that is Playa Mujeres, just north of Cancun, Mexico. Opening is planned for the last quarter of this year.
Introducing the newest gem of laid-back luxury to reach Cancun Playa Mujeres area: our all-inclusive hotel offers 500 luxurious keys, complemented by an impressive array of 12 distinct Food & Beverage outlets and a rejuvenating spa sanctuary. Catering to both adults seeking relaxation and families craving connection and some adventure, this hotel strikes the perfect balance of sophistication and refinement while providing an array of amenities and activities tailored for travelers of all ages. What you'll do...
- Responsible for the set up and execution of the human resource function for the successful opening of this hotel.
- Manage the pre-opening budget as it relates to all people-related items.
- Responsible for leading short- and long-term strategy planning and execution management of the People & Culture function for the hotel.
- Recommend the department's budget and manage expenses within approved budget constraints.
- Major areas of responsibility/ management include, but are not limited to: recruitment, wage and salary administration, benefits, training, employee/labor relations, organizational development and payroll. This includes both the set up for the opening as well as the operations of the hotel post-opening.
- Work closely with General Manager in implementing, achieving and maintaining the property goals and objectives, set for both pre-opening phase as well as fully operational.
- You'll be the culture champion for this property, promoting a fair, safe and equitable environment, and championing empowerment, innovation, development, and communication.
- You'll ensure that the hotel operates within the employment law framework in its operating state and locality.
- You'll act as an advisor to all managers on all aspects of employment and support team relations and performance management.
- You'll develop, implement, and manage the nuts and bolts of the department, our policies, processes, and procedures.
- You'll get involved and lead projects. We want to hear your ideas and get your input.
- You'll create awareness for the brand and Ennismore through strategic activities to attract talent to hotels across our brands.
- You'll lead our efforts in embedding our values and culture into your team.
- You'll lead and manage the People & Culture team.
What we're looking for...
- You have at least four years' experience as a director in a human resource capacity in a full-service property, all inclusive, or luxury resort.
- You have full knowledge of employment law in Mexico and the local jurisdiction. This also includes occupational safety and health, wage and hour, as well as labor regulations and relations.
- Ability to take ownership of issues, solve problems and make effective decisions.
- You are a quick learner, with a growth mindset and are up for doing things differently and trying (almost) everything once.
- You execute. You get things done. You are scarily organized.
- You know how to hold people accountable – but make people feel good at the same time.
- You are a great communicator – both verbally and written – and a great listener. You are fluent (both verbal and written) in English and Spanish.
- You love people and want to scout, hire and train the best team out there.
- You can keep a secret. You exercise discretion when handling team issues.
- You are humble & kind; you think big and encourage your team to believe.
- You want to be part of a team that works hard, supports each other, and has fun along the way.
- You are able to train, motivate, evaluate, mentor and direct team members to meet desired ends and business goals.
- You have proficient understanding of Computer systems such as: Microsoft Office products, various HRIS and payroll systems, and applicant tracking systems (such as SmartRecruiter)
