Senior PR Consultant (Finance)

Sherlock Communications is an award-winning PR and Communications agency made up of professionals from all across Latin America and the Caribbean. WHAT DO WE NEED?

We are looking for a Sr. PR Consultant based in Mexico City, who will be a key player in shaping and executing strategic communication plans for our finance clients. We are looking for a proactive and leadership mindset professional with extensive experience in public relations, capable of elevating brand images, adeptly managing crisis communications, and fostering positive media coverage.

Our ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of the regional market dynamics and a genuine passion for finance, particularly investment and asset management - someone who self-identifies as a "finance nerd" and thrives on immersing themselves in these topics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate closely with clients to understand their communication needs and provide strategic counsel.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive PR strategies aligned with clients' business objectives.
  • Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers in Mexico.
  • Execute media relations projects, securing positive media coverage, and adeptly managing press inquiries.
  • Coordinate and create compelling press releases, pitches, media kits, bylines, and other written materials to ensure consistent messaging and branding across various communication channels.
  • Manage and organize press tours, events, and speaking opportunities for enhanced visibility.
  • Proactively identify potential crisis situations and develop effective crisis communication plans, as well as manage and mitigate reputational risks during crisis situations.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients, fostering strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Provide regular updates,reports, and insights on PR campaigns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in other countries to ensure integrated communication strategies.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members, offering guidance on career development and skill enhancement.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the PR team.
  • Pitch new clients, build proposals, and execute actions for new business development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public relations, with a focus on international clients and prior agency experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing PR campaigns and effectively managing media relations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, a results-oriented and leadership mindset, and effective time management capabilities.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with basic computer and PR apps, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Google Slides, and Google Sheets.
