Project Summary:

For the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists (PDP) is a project financed by the U.S.

Agency for International Development (USAID) with the objective of improving the institutional capacity of government and non-government actors involved in the protection of human rights defenders and journalists.

This project will facilitate the creation of a safer civic space with freedom of expression and the guarantee of human rights.

PDP will work will conduct activities with counterparts and allies at the state and federal levels.

Only Mexican citizens are eligible for this position.

Position Summary:


The Institutional Strengthening Specialist will support PDP's mission and will develop and deploy tools and technical interventions meant to strengthen the capacity of Government of Mexico (GOM) institutions at the federal and state levels.

These interventions will seek to support government capacity to prevent and/or prosecute crimes and threats against activists and journalists.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy technical interventions across a range of GOM institutions at the state and federal level.
  • Oversee iterative processes to permit the development of interventions that fit the needs of the relevant GOM agencies.
  • Support the program team to identify synergies between established PDP programming with third parties and efforts to strengthen GOM institutions.

Por la Protección de Defensores de Derechos Humanos y Periodistas (PDP) es un proyecto financiado por la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional (USAID) con el objetivo de mejorar la capacidad institucional de actores gubernamentales y no gubernamentales involucrados en la protección de defensores de derechos humanos y periodistas Este proyecto facilitará la creación de un espacio cívico más seguro, con libertad de expresión y garantía de los derechos humanos.

PDP trabajará realizará actividades con contrapartes y aliados a nível estatal y federal.

Resumen del Cargo:

El Especialista en Fortalecimiento Institucional apoyará la misión del PDP y desarrollar
- y desplegará herramientas e intervenciones técnicas destinadas a fortalecer la capacidad de las instituciones del Gobierno de México (GOM) a nível federal y estatal. Estas intervenciones buscarán apoyar la capacidad del gobierno para prevenir y/o perseguir delitos y amenazas contra activistas y periodistas.

Responsabilidades:

  • Desarrollar e implementar intervenciones técnicas en una variedad de instituciones del GOM a nível estatal y federal.
  • Supervisar procesos iterativos para permitir el desarrollo de intervenciones que se ajusten a las necesidades de las agencias relevantes del GOM.
  • Apoyar al equipo del programa para identificar sinergias entre la programación PDP establecida con terceros y los esfuerzos para fortalecer las instituciones del GOM.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is required, ideally in law, public policy, political sciences, public administration, or similar.
  • Minimum three years of experience in strengthening the capacity of GOM stakeholders is required.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
