Vice-President Operational Resilience Risk - Wholesale

Role Overview:

You will be responsible for ensuring that all entities within Global Corporate and Commercial Banking, Markets and Securities Services units establish and adhere to standards for operational risk management outlined in the Group's Enterprise Risk and Operational Risk Management framework. Your focus will be on managing non-financial risks, specifically resilience risks, within acceptable boundaries. Your role will involve providing independent oversight on non-financial risks for these core businesses with a primary emphasis on operational and resilience risks. Due to the intricate nature of these business areas, your risk expertise and business knowledge will be frequently called upon to offer unbiased perspectives, review and challenge risk and control frameworks, and act as a trusted advisor to the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate leadership, credibility, and influence across all lines of defense in overseeing the implementation of non-financial risk management practices.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of risk and control identification, assessment, and reporting within the Group's Risk and Control system (Helios), while also proactively questioning areas that require further scrutiny.
  • Lead independent thematic reviews, presenting challenges and comprehensive evaluations.
  • Participate in non-financial risk and control governance forums, where your expertise will be crucial in providing operational risk oversight and challenging the First Line of Defense's view on resilience risk. You will play a pivotal role in influencing governance standards to meet requirements consistently.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in the Corporate and Investment Banking sector of a leading financial institution. Solid understanding of institutional banking operations and activities.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, displaying gravitas and strong leadership qualities.
  • Proficient in Risk Management frameworks, particularly Non-Financial Risk Management.
  • Committed to continuous personal development, utilizing internal and external resources to enhance skills.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and adept at working within a team environment.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office tools and demonstrates an innovative approach to developing advanced reporting analytics.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent; a postgraduate degree is advantageous.
