Supplier Quality Engineer - Guadalajara, Mexico

Food waste is one of the most solvable climate problems facing us today. Plus, our trash really stinks. It's gross, heavy, and our least favorite chore. At Mill we are striving to build a better environment for all, as we take on climate and kitchen change.

About the Role:

As Mill's Supplier Quality Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring that Mill's hardware products are manufactured to the highest quality standards as our customers will expect. You will partner closely with the operations and engineering teams to establish meaningful quality metrics and drive Mill's manufacturing and supply chain partners to achieve targets that meet established requirements for both our customers and our business. This is a hands-on role and includes managing third party partners to ensure end to end product quality coverage.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with cross functional teams and external vendors to drive process and quality improvements across the supply chain
  • Coordinate all Quality Engineering functions for the program, leading efforts at supplier locations during the NPI product development
  • Develop, communicate and implement supplier-specific Quality plans for Tier 1 supply partners
  • Drive "Closed Loop Corrective Action" (CLCA) on material quality problems ensuring that the root causes of failures are identified and long-term resolutions are implemented
  • Responsible to qualify the product and supplier for mass production
  • Establish key metrics to evaluate supplier performance
  • Work closely with Mill Product Design team to develop and implement quality inspection tools (gauges, fixtures) to ensure cosmetic and dimensional part characteristics are meeting Mill's quality requirements
  • Data analysis to evaluate supplier process capabilities to feedback on appropriate improvement solutions
  • Develop audit procedures for supplier quality to ensure consistency in product quality and also aid in new supplier selection
  • Establish quality processes throughout the HW supply chain for various component vendors including first article inspections, in-process quality control, final quality control.
  • Apply deep understanding of Mill Hardware Quality and Manufacturing processes to lead the development of Quality Control Plan (QCP) on a component level at various manufacturing partners
  • Work with our manufacturing partners to review and approve outgoing material quality
  • Function as liaison between Mill, manufacturing partners and Tier 1 suppliers to establish and correlate inspection criteria and measurement methods.
  • Facilitate the inspection and approval of first article samples with Hardware Engineering
  • Travel domestically and internationally to supplier sites - 50%

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree (MS or BS in Engineering) required
  • 3+ years experience in Product Quality, Supplier Quality, NPI or Production Quality roles
  • Knowledge of quality, reliability, supplier management, statistical analysis and auditing techniques
  • Exceptional program management, communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to operate in dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
