Title:Financial ControllerCompany:Compañía De Seguros Generales Everest MéxicoJob Category:FinanceJob Description:Job Description: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join a General Insurance operation launching in México.This global underwriting leader provides best-in-class property, casualty, specialty reinsurance, and insurance solutions.We are seeking a skilled and experienced bilingual Financial Controller with a strong background in general insurance who will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards (especially USGAAP), and complying with regulatory requirements.Key Accountabilities:- Production of quarterly and annual financial close processes, ensuring compliance with IFRS, US GAAP, and local statutory regulations.- Prepare financial statements using Mexican and international accounting standards, especially IFRS.- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.- Lead and support the automation, standardization, and redesign of finance processes to improve efficiency and accelerate financial close cycles.- Set up the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.- Ensuring compliance with local government regulations and the Mexican Regulator of Insurance and Surety Institutions (CNSyF).- Monthly/quarterly Balance Sheet account reconciliation.- Lead the external audit process.- Preparation and lodgment of indirect taxes and duties (GST, Stamp Duty, etc).- Prepare the tax returns annually and work with the international tax team and external auditors.- Co-ordinate the annual submissions to the relevant regulatory bodies.- Work with external tax advisers to prepare annual and fringe benefits tax returns and transfer pricing documentation.- Work closely with managers across all departments of the organization.- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in financial reporting.Additional duties include:- Work with the CFO and other International Finance/Actuarial teams in the testing and rollout of various systems (new General Ledger, Reinsurance, Data Lake, and IFRS/ Reporting Tool).- Set up the reporting process using the new systems being rolled out.- Set up and document processes and procedures for the new systems.Qualifications, Education & Experience:- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.- Language skills: English level advanced.- Proven experience within the General Insurance industry- Experience with the various indirect taxes associated with general insurance policies and filings with the relevant Government department.Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:- Excellent understanding of financial accounting principles and practices.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.- Advanced proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel and experience in implementing systems.- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.- Strong leadership and people management skills.- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.As an influential team member, employees at Everest must champion the Everest Insurance Culture:- Collaboration: Open and transparent communication with customers and colleagues.- Thoughtful Assumption of Risk: Supporting the Everest goal of carefully writing profitable business by ensuring data quality, prompt and accurate feedback to Underwriters, and operational control throughout the enterprise.- Execution: Delivering outstanding support to the organization through day-to-day solid business operations, effective project management, and careful oversight of vendors.- Humility: Caring and respectful approach to service colleagues, customers, and the community.- Leadership: By example, every day.Our CultureAt Everest, our purpose is to provide the world with protection.We help clients and businesses thrive, fuel global economies, and create sustainable value for our colleagues, shareholders and the communities that we serve.We also pride ourselves on having a unique and inclusive culture which is driven by a unified set of values and behaviors.Clickhereto learn more about our culture.- Our Values are the guiding principles that inform our decisions, actions and behaviors.They are an expression of our culture and an integral part of how we work: Talent.Thoughtful assumption of risk.Execution.Efficiency.Humility.Leadership.Collaboration.Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.- Our Colleague Behaviors define how we operate and interact with each other no matter our location, level or function: Respect everyone.Pursue better.Lead by example.Own our outcomes.Win together.All colleagues are held accountable to uphold
