WORD PROCESSING-CE/VOC: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (non-credit) Classification Title: WORD PROCESSING-CE/VOC: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (non-credit) Working Title: Adjunct Faculty Location: District Wide FLSA Status: Exempt (does not accrue overtime) Position Type: Adjunct Bargaining Unit: AFT/Continuing Education Faculty Department: District Wide Overview The San Diego Community College District accepts applications for adjunct (part‑time/substitute) positions for our three college campuses and various continuing education centers on a continuous basis. Applications are included in an adjunct pool for possible assignments in the fall, spring, and/or summer semesters. Hiring departments contact you directly should you possess the qualifications they are seeking. Responsibilities Provide instruction in accordance with the established curriculum and course outlines. Teach all scheduled classes, including lecture and lab as determined by the department. Maintain accurate records and maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas and fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member. Be available to students outside of class and create an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning with free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues. Qualifications Minimum: A Bachelor’s degree AND two (2) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; OR Associate degree AND six (6) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; OR Full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in Information Processing/Keyboarding; OR The equivalent. Desired: Possession of the full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential in Information Processing/Keyboarding and professional equivalency evaluation for foreign degrees as required. Additional Information Newly hired faculty members are required to submit official transcripts. All new employees must provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment, and must renew the certificate every four years as a condition of continuing employment. An employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.
