**Medical Translator/Customer Srvc Rep****Job Summary**:**The Medical Translator is responsible for effectively communicating with both English and non-English speaking patients in the hospital.This position helps manage customer service inquiries and complaints and can process and escalate complaints across a number of communication channels.The Medical Translator supports patients by providing helpful information, answering questions, and responding to complaints while serving as the front line for patients and helps ensure that they are satisfied with their care.Medical Interpreter is a conduit between patients and medical professionals by listening to the medical professional and orally translating information into a patient's native language.The medical interpreter then translates the patient's response back to the medical professional.Medical interpreters may translate information including the reason for the visit, past medical history, past family history, as well as explaining medical and surgical procedures, giving medical instructions, providing drug information, and providing patient education.****Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks**:- **Provide language services to non-English speaking patients to help them communicate with doctors, nurses, and other medical staff.**:- **Interact with all aspects of patient care, must be able to answer office telephones in a professional manner, operate standard office equipment including telephones, facsimiles, copiers, computers, and printers.**:- **Carries out specific tasks as delegated, in a manner that ensures patient safety, privacy, and according to standards of patient care, standards of staff performance and physician orders.**:- **Ensures readiness of supplies and equipment at the hospital level to meet patient needs.**:- **Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.**:- **Provides and maintains a clean, safe environment and performs and or assists others to perform proper aseptic technique, isolation procedures, and infection control measures.**:- **Required to maintain competence in patient safety functions related to the position.**:- **Participates and supports Hospital Performance Improvement activities.**:- **Assesses whether communication is being understood.**:- **May interpret and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.**:- **Responds to patient inquiries and maintains patient satisfaction.**:- **Communicates with patients in person by rounding daily.**:- **Communicates with patients after discharge with a follow-up call to ensure discharge needs were met.**:- **Research information to solve customer service problems.**:- **Communicating with patients through various channels.**:- **Keeping records of patient interactions, transactions, comments, and complaints.**:- **Communicating and coordinating with colleagues as necessary.**:- **Providing feedback on the efficiency of the customer service process.**:- **Performs related work as assigned.****Required Education / Experience**:- **Minimum High School diploma or college is required (or equivalent combination of education and experience)**:- **Experience in customer service, clerical and interpreter.****Salary**: $15,****** - $20,****** per monthCOVID-19 considerations:All employees are required to wear a a facemask at all time.
