Senior Director, Legal

skilled Legal Director to join our team in Mexico City.The successful candidate will oversee all legal matters in Mexico, provide strategic legal guidance to senior leadership, and ensure compliance with local, regional, and international regulations.This role requires deep expertise in the logistics and/or transportation industries and the ability to operate in a bilingual (English/Spanish) environment.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESProvide specialized legal advice to senior management on local and international regulations in the port and logistics sector to business unitsEnsure compliance with industry and business laws, regulations, and standards in all operationsAct as company secretary, ensuring compliance with corporate governance, including managing the company's legal reports to shareholders, partners, external auditors, DP World Americas, and DP World headquartersDevelop and implement corporate governance policies to ensure transparency and accountabilityAct as a liaison with government agencies and industry associations to promote favorable policiesLEGAL COMPLIANCEServe as the primary legal advisor for Mexico, providing strategic counsel on business operations, contracts, compliance, and corporate governanceDraft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including transportation, logistics, procurement, and service contractsMonitor regulatory changes in Mexico and ensure business operations remain compliant with applicable lawsResponsibility for corporate governance and entity complianceOversee dispute resolution, litigation, and external counsel managementPartner with leadership to support strategic initiatives, M&A activities, and risk management effortsDevelop and implement compliance frameworks, policies, and employee training programsEnsure alignment of local legal practices with global corporate standardsGENERALManage the budget for external legal advice in terms of time, quality, and serviceAs a member of DP World Mexico's senior management team, support business plans and budget processesComply with company rules, procedures, policies, and regulationsObserve and apply safety and environmental standards within the area under your responsibilityPerform and complete scheduled and unscheduled tasksComply with the Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption PolicyComply with the channels for reporting irregularitiesQUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLSLaw degree (Licenciatura en Derecho) from a recognized Mexican universityValid Cédula Professional10+ years of Legal experience with a strong background in the logistics or transportation sectorProven track record in managing corporate, commercial, compliance, and regulatory matters in MexicoExperience working in multinational corporations or advising them through top-tier law firmsStrong negotiation, drafting, and advisory skillsBilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (spoken and written)Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilitiesHigh ethical standards and a pragmatic, business-oriented approach to problem-solvingAdditional international legal qualifications (e.G., LL.M.) are a plusABOUT DP
