Invenergy drives innovation in energy.Powered by decades of entrepreneurial experience and unparalleled execution, we solve the energy challenges facing our customers and communities.We provide power generation and storage solutions at scale around the world to create a cleaner energy future.We develop.We build.We own.We operate.We are Invenergy.**Job Description**:Position OverviewThe Associate, Commercial Transactions will assist with diligence and closing of long term thermal and renewable power purchase and steam sale agreements and support related tasks and functions.This position will work with cross-functional groups within the organization and assist with ensuring new development projects meet the company's risk/return requirements and are financeable.**Responsibilities**:- Lead diligence efforts and assist with negotiation of fuel supply, power and capacity off-take agreements in support of new renewable and thermal generation development, primarily in Mexico and potentially in other parts of North America and Central and South America.- Lead and assist with the negotiation of enabling agreements for physical and financial fuel and power transactions (NAESBs and ISDAs).- Work with Power Trading, Commercial Analytics, Finance, Regulatory, Asset Management.and Risk Management teams to develop and execute fuel supply strategies that adhere to constraints of the plants' project finance structures, including the use of NAESBs, Transaction Confirmation, transportation agreements and other structured products.- Assist Energy Management activities performed by internal or external resources including power scheduling, gas nomination, operation coordination- Evaluate alternatives for fuel supply including, but not limited to: firm transportation; interruptible transportation; swing services; imbalance management; alternative fuels such as diesel, CNG, LNG, and hydrogen.- Help ensure contractual commercial positions and transaction structures mitigate company risk and enhance value and help ensure contracts and related documents accurately reflect negotiated positions- Assist with soliciting input for contracts from cross-functional groups, including finance, business development, operations, risk, legal, regulatory, tax, and accounting- Lead efforts in fuel procurement feasibility for the development of potential thermal projects in Latin America.- Lead and support CENACE settlements, disputes, and market operation for thermal and renewable assets in Mexico and potentially in other parts of North America and Central and South America.- Maintain key fuel supply and energy industry contacts.- Develop an expert understanding of market rules, regulations, and procedures**Required Skills**:- Bachelor's degree is required.A degree in business or engineering is preferred.- Fluency in English and Spanish is required.- 1+ year of experience in the utility or IPP industry.- 3+ years of experience in a supporting role in the origination of natural gas, wind, and/or solar energy generation projects.- Proficient with project finance concepts and structures.- Experience in wholesale electric markets with knowledge of RTO markets and power generation- Knowledge of energy, gas, and capacity markets, trading, settlement, and market operation- Knowledge of CENACE and CENAGAS market rules and regulation.CENACE certifications desired:i) _Mercado Electrico Mayorista_ andii) _Manual Regulatorio de coordinación Operativa_- Knowledge of physical delivery systems for electricity and gas- Must be organized and articulate, high energy, a strong work ethic, trustworthy, honest, and friendly personality, and ability to independently prioritize and plan work and manage competing deadlines.- Excellent communication and presentation skills, coupled with proficiency in Excel- Some travel will be required
