**Date**:Feb 26, ******Location**: Apodaca, NLE, MX, *******Company**:CorningRequisition Number: *****Corning is vital to progress - in the industries we help shape and in the world we share.We invent life-changing technologies using materials science.Our scientific and manufacturing expertise, boundless curiosity, and commitment to purposeful invention place us at the center of the way the world interacts, works, learns, and lives.Our sustained investment in research, development, and invention means we're always ready to solve the toughest challenges alongside our customers.Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network.The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications.The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.**Role Purpose**:As a Senior Automation Engineer, your role is to drive automation initiatives, develop new manufacturing processes, and enhance existing ones to meet CPK/SIGMA targets and ensure CSC Compliance.You'll document processes, standardize procedures, and conduct data-driven Root Cause Analyses (RCAs).Your expertise in automation and process optimization will boost our competitive edge and innovation.You'll also identify automation needs for new product introductions and capture any intellectual property arising from projects.**Key Responsibilities**:- Plan, organize and execute work-streams on projects to deliver process improvement and step change capabilities- Evaluation process cost, quality, and capability alternatives, institutes continuous improvements to existing manufacturing operations through process automation/semi-automation- Project work scope typically includes equipment selection (design, development) manufacturing installation, start-up, and acceptance (Pilot, Pre-Pro Runs & EEM)- Role includes individual contributor and project work-stream leadership responsibilities- Develop and trial complex mechanisms, involving electromechanical solutions and full integrations- Work with and facilitate alignment between manufacturing, development, and innovative technology implementation- Manage internal Corning resources to complete project deliverables- Interface with external machine builders, system integrators, and suppliers to specify and deliver fully integrated process machine systems on-time, on-budget and fulfilling the technical scope, provides site support on RCA and Design reviews- Utilize statistical tools, engineering data, and DMAIC/DESGN/Lean/MEE/TRIZ methodologies to develop equipment, fixtures and automates solutions to improve manufacturing processes.- Support development and execution of finishing technology strategy, roadmap, and project portfolio, participates on re designs- Support equipment problem-solving in manufacturing, including root cause identification and resolution when exceeds Controls team capabilities- Participate in Stage Gate (RA, LA, GA) defined.Ageement definition and review- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.Exercises judgment within defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.- Lead technical support when controls requirements exceed associate capabilities.- Leads projects involving design, fabrication, off-line integration, testing, installation, production start-up support, training of plant personnel and technology transfer.**Experiences/Education - Required**:**A.Education.**- Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree or higher in relevant discipline, Master's degree a plus- Bilingual (English and Spanish)**B.Work Experience**- 5 years required, 2 years desired of experience as Engineer in Process/Manufacturing, Quality, NPI or Product Engineering in a multi-product manufacturing environment using Statistical Process Control or/ and Quality Control & Risk Assessment- 2 years' Experience in programming PLC (AB RS Logix, Control Logix, Siemens S7 and G&L)- 3 years of Equipment Development experience**C.Competencies**- Leadership- Project Management skills- Driven results- Strategic mindset- Ensures accountability- Communicates effectively**Experiences/Education - Desired**:- DMAIC Green Belt certified, DMAIC Black Belt certification desired, PQA Green Belt experience a plus- Strong critical thinking skills is required (methodological approach)- Professional knowledge of MS Office (particularly MS Excel software, M
