Role Definition Design, development and testing of electrical and/or electronic components for use within machines and engine systems. Partner with suppliers to deliver production components and help the systems engineers integrate successfully into various applications. Responsibilities Develop, improve, and troubleshoot electronic/electrical hardware used in an array of engine and machine systems Development of product requirements, analysis and simulation, electronic component selection, schematic/layout development, and platform verification and validation. Some or all of these activities may be performed in partnership with a supplier including the manufacturing plan and process development. Overseeing compliance with development processes and regulations for electrical and electronic systems and components. Investigating and troubleshooting all technical issues related to electrical and electronic systems and components. Managing and negotiating with electrical and electronic equipment vendors for the development of systems and components. Mentoring craftsmen, technicians and engineers in the development of electrical and electronic systems and components For some components, the platform includes embedded software as a key deliverable, so coordination of this activity with the appropriate teams is required. New and current production hardware will be maintained and supported through the platform lifecycle including obsolescence management. Collaborate with the supplier on supplier quality issues, assurance of supply issues, and manufacturing line reviews. Good communication is expected for technical status updates, component reviews, and when working closely with other internal and external teams in multiple geographic locations and organizations. Degree Requirement Requires a bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical) Skill Descriptors Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors in English. Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. Electronics Engineering - HTH: Knowledge of electronics engineering; ability to design, test and manufacture electronic circuits, components and devices. Reliability Management - HTH: Knowledge of reliability management; ability to utilize various tools, techniques, methodologies and metrics to meet and manage hardware product performance and reliability objectives. Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice. Basic Qualifications Requires 5-7 years of experience in embedded electronic hardware development Fluent English Incumbents must have demonstrated excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments. Must have strong problem-solving skills and analytical skills and the ability to communicate technical information effectively.
