**OFFICE LOCATION**:Ciudad de México, MéxicoLA061**WHO WE ARE**:The mission of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is to conserve the lands and waters upon which all life depends.As a science-based organization, we develop innovative, on-the-ground solutions to the world's toughest environmental challenges so that people and nature can thrive.Our work is guided by our values, which include a commitment to diversity and respect for people, communities, and cultures.From a rewarding mission to career development and flexible schedules, there are many reasons to love life #insideTNC.Want to know more?Check out our TNC Talent playlist on YouTube to hear stories from staff or visit Glassdoor.**WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER**:**Market and financial levers**In close collaboration with Global, regional and local teams, TNC's senior management, and partner organizations we will bring sophisticated economic models, business and financial solutions that can leverage conservation in the Selva Maya and Mesoamerican Reef, through equitable, socially just and inclusive approaches.**Economics and financial-centered projects**With your leadership, we will be able to guide a team of project managers focused on initiatives that aim to bring disruptive economic transformation and innovative financial solutions.Additionally, we will be able to develop new approaches that can become transformative proposals and projects.**Economic and financial guidance and capacity building**Together we will have fun as we increase TNC and partner organizations' capacities in economics and finance.Sharing knowledge and expertise will help our teams be more strategical and efficient in the implementation TNC's work, while identifying new opportunities to leverage our initiatives and increase our impact.**WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU**:We are looking for you to bring sophisticated economic, business, and financial expertise.Different initiatives in the Selva Maya and Mesoamerican Reef will benefit from your economics and financial leadership, to unleash the potential of financial mechanisms to accelerate the transition into sustainable practices, halt deforestation, transform farming and ranching practices, mobilize public and private funding for nature based solutions, and improve local livelihoods.You will lead different initiatives by seeking innovative and state-of-the-art solutions to tackle the main conservation, economic and social challenges in the region.You will be the reference person for Economic and financial topics, proactively engaging internal and external stakeholders to provide guidance, assess needs, and mobilize capacity as needed to support TNC and partner organizations' initiatives in the Amazon biome aiming to leverage existing capacity and build new ones.**Responsibilities & Scope**:- Follow our Code of Conduct and demonstrate consistently our Values.- Develop innovative economic and financial approaches to accelerate the transition into sustainable practices in the Selva Maya and Mesoamerican Reef.- Provide guidance and support to the team implementing the Sustainable and Prosperous Communities, a 4 year initiative aimed at accelerating, scaling up and enhancing local sustainable business.A key component of the project is a financial platform to mobilize and channel 60M towards sustainable initiatives in the region.- Engage internal and external stakeholders to improve economic and financial solutions that can move our conservation efforts forward.- Proactively develop strategies and proposals to increase the financial resources flowing to TNC and partner organizations' conservation initiatives- Support fundraising efforts, engaging, and participating in negotiation efforts with potential donors, investors and partners.- Manage and implements a portfolio of projects- Lead or participate in negotiations for complex, high profile or sensitive arrangements, initiatives, and agreements.- Ensure the programmatic work is collaborative and well-integrated across the organization.- Make independent decisions frequently based on analysis, experience and judgment.- Ensure programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.- Manage and track budgets, and ensure timely follow up to different commitments with donors and partners.- TNC has an occupational safety policy aimed to protect employees, partners and the communities where we work and serve.COVID-19 vaccine is a minimum requirement for all positions.Whenever applicable, as much as possible.- Mexican or with legal permit to work in Mexico.- The position is based preferably in Mexico City.- Capacity and willingness to travel domestic and internationally (up to 30% of the time), sometimes in mildly adverse conditions.**WHAT YOU'LL BRING**:- Masters ´ degree and 5 years of experience in similar positions, for example the private sector environment
