**Role Purpose**
- To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English.
- To assist with the development of the Young Learner product offer.
- To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission.

**Challenges and Accountabilities**
The role supports the British Council Teaching Centre Team with the day-to-day operations in Mexicoo. This may include, but is not limited to:

- Ensure all child-safe arrival and departure procedures are met
- Support the classroom teacher in delivery of high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different young learner groups and learning styles
- Support with preparation of the classroom environment and class materials that meets the needs of young learners at varying developmental stages
- Tidy and organise materials after classes to ensure resources are managed and maintained
- Support children with toileting needs; intimate care procedures (nappy changing)
- Support individual learners with special educational needs or learning difficulties on a one-one basis as requested by the classroom teacher
- Complete safeguarding related administrative tasks such as updating medical proxy forms and consent forms to specified standards
- Monitor safety and behaviour out of class during periods before and after classes and toilet breaks or changes of rooms. Monitor children waiting for late pick up and inform STYL/CS staff of late parent arrivals
- Facilitate communication with translation between teachers, learners, and parents as necessary (including parent/teacher meetings)
- Support the centre during extra events such as open days, registration weeks, and external events, as required
- Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials, and related services, to meet students’ needs by providing feedback to the teaching team
- Contribute to customer services by answering student, customer, stakeholder questions and providing information regarding products as requested
- Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning, and maintain British Council’s position at the forefront of best ELT practices
- Contribute to the development of lasting, mutually beneficial relationships by enhancing students’ understanding of contemporary UK
- Ensure safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy

**Requirements**:

- High school graduate
- Experience working with children
- High proficiency in Spanish i.e. proficiency of Spanish across all 4 skills equivalent to CEFR C1.
- Proficiency in English i.e. proficiency of English across all 4 skills equivalent to CEFR B2, IELTS Band 6/7 in each of 4 sections of the general module

**Additional Information**
- Young Learner classes are currently offered from 3.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on Saturdays. Teaching Assistants are scheduled on a termly basis depending on their availability and the teaching centre’s needs.
- Classes are offered online and face-to-face in both our on-site premises and off-site in companies and partner schools which happen Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- Summer School classes run 8th July - 18th August between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday to Friday.
