Packaging Technician

**Scope of Position**

The purpose of this position is to support the Packaging Engineer with collaboration, design, validation and implementation of packaging solutions that encompass 3 key areas around cost savings, sustainability and meeting customer requirements. All of these areas are integral parts of the OCS Packaging Program within Corning and include the standardization and optimization of existing and new packaging solutions to deliver improvements in cost, pkg technology capabilities, quality and providing manufacturing/ commercial support for packaging related issues. The Packaging Technician will provide support working with the Packaging Engineer to execute project activities, deliverables and opportunities to improve the pkg design, materials and validations. The Packaging Technician will become proficient in operating packaging test equipment in a safe manner to carry out specified qualifications and validation testing requirements.

**Day to Day Responsibilities**
- Point of contact for manufacturing concerning day-to-day packaging needs
- Learn and further develop under the Packaging Engineering team, identifying packaging improvement opportunities that deliver cost, quality, and capability improvements for new and existing products
- Support Packaging Engineers in validating and execution of packaging improvement opportunities to deliver cost, quality, and capability improvements for new and existing products
- Qualify new package designs and validate product reliability by performing specified tests
- Generate appropriate technical documentation and report summaries to support packaging test requirements
- Work collaboratively with packaging material suppliers as needed, to support activities with the lead Packaging Engineer.
- Share best practices with the Packaging Engineering team to continuously improve packaging processes, testing requirements and validations of new materials

**Education and Experience**
- Associates degree in Engineering field required
- Minimum 0-5 years of experience working in manufacturing

- Ability to evaluate and compare packaging pre and post testing

- Advanced English verbal and written skills
- Advanced MS Office proficiency
- Strong team collaboration skills, able to interact well with others
