.Leads the design, documentation, and implementation of welding processes for manufacturing.

Leads the work for specific projects to create and implement all aspects of welding processes to ensure safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met.

Leads the use of continuous improvement tools while following the Cummins standards.

Leads the development of welding standards and working methods.

Leads the communications with and influences key external stakeholders, business leaders, and functional members.

Works with internal and external resources on specific project assignments.

Leads the advanced knowledge of welding principles and practices as they are applied to Cummins.

Maintains relationships and coaches key stakeholders.

Knowledge of Welding Codes - Interprets the codes in the welding industry by using the right code within an operation in a design for manufacturing to be compliant with industry regulations.

Knowledge of Welding Processes - Demonstrates understanding of the multiple welding processes used within the organization by properly designing for the appropriate manufacturing process to produce process robustness for quality and cost effectiveness.

Manages complexity - Making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.

Optimizes work processes - Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.

**Education, Licenses, Certifications**

College, university, or equivalent degree required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

**Experience**

Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
- Investigate welding related issues to improve product performance and increaseproductivity
- Assist in design of welded parts, assemblies and toolings formanufacturing.
- Develop repair procedures and assess flaws to determine best practices andsolutions for repair.
- Develop standards, materials, weld joint design, and welding processes
- Develop welding process procedure qualification, supplier qualification, andproduct testing
- Troubleshoot welding problems and provide corrective solutions
- Develop and assist Quality in Manufacturing instructions for all weldingprocesses related to housing and bracket weld manufacturing.
